The essentials: Fairtex BGV14 boxing gloves, Painters edition: white shell scattered with multicoloured paint splashes. Premium microfibre (no leather), attached thumb, hook-and-loop strap. 8 to 16 oz — €99. Free shipping.
Fairtex began as a textile business: Philip Wong founded Fairtex Garments Factory in Bangkok in 1971, and the Muay Thai camp opened in 1975 near Lumpinee Stadium. The BGV14 is the newer branch of the glove range — the same hand shape as the leather BGV1, built entirely in microfibre: lighter, easier to clean, and free of animal materials.
The Painters edition
A white shell printed with multicoloured splashes, in the manner of paint flicked at a canvas. The print is applied to the microfibre, so it does not sit as a raised layer that can peel at the flex points.
The BGV14, in microfibre
The BGV14 is the microfibre model of the range: no leather at all. It is noticeably lighter than the BGV1 at the same ounce weight, it wipes clean instead of needing balm, and it is the Fairtex model to pick if you want a glove free of animal materials. Attached thumb, hook-and-loop closure, the same hand shape as the leather line.
Comfort and hold
The microfibre shell stays supple from the first session — there is no break-in period — and the wide hook-and-loop strap holds the wrist without a second pair of hands. The lining dries between two sessions faster than a leather glove.

Frequently asked questions
Are these gloves leather?
No. The BGV14 shell is premium microfibre, with no leather in it. That makes the pair lighter than the leather BGV1 at the same ounce weight and easy to wipe clean.
Is the splash pattern identical on every pair?
Yes — it is a printed design, not hand-applied, so both gloves in the pair and every pair sold carry the same layout.
What is the difference between the Fairtex BGV14 and the BGV1?
The BGV1 is genuine leather; the BGV14 is microfibre, with no leather at all. Same hand shape, same attached thumb, same strap. The BGV14 is lighter at equal ounce weight, needs no balm and suits anyone avoiding animal materials.
What size Fairtex gloves should I get?
16 oz for sparring, 14 oz for all-purpose training, 12 oz for bag and pad rounds, 8 to 10 oz for sanctioned bouts. Fairtex runs a tighter hand compartment than most brands, so allow for your wraps.
How do you clean Fairtex gloves?
Air them out of the bag after every session and wipe the shell with a damp cloth. Microfibre needs nothing more; leather takes a balm once a month.
