Key facts: a punching bag that stands on its own, with no drilling and no frame. Its base is weighted with water (about 62 kg / 137 lb) or sand (about 83 kg / 182 lb) and grips the floor with 12 suction cups. Boxing, kickboxing and MMA, at home or in the gym. Black. €399, free shipping.
The free standing bag was born in the United States at Century Martial Arts with the Wavemaster, designed for homes whose ceilings and wooden walls cannot carry a heavy bag. The principle is still a hollow base you weigh down, and this model anchors it at about 83 kg / 182 lb of sand on 12 suction cups.
Weighting a free standing punching bag: water or sand
The round black base fills through a red cap on top. Filled with water it weighs about 62 kg / 137 lb; filled with sand, about 83 kg / 182 lb. Sand adds roughly 21 kg / 45 lb for the same volume, which makes it the fill to choose for hard work.
Under the base, 12 suction cups, 8.4 cm / 3.3 in across, set in a ring, hold the unit to the floor. They grip fully on a smooth, clean, dry surface.
Spring-loaded post and striking cover
A post joins the base to the bag. At its foot, a ring of gold springs takes the shock of every strike: the bag tilts under impact and comes back upright, so you keep your combinations flowing without waiting for a swing.
The black cylindrical cover carries a vertical gold lettering and the words KEEP ON GETTING BETTER. Wipe it after each session to remove sweat and glove marks.
Where to set up a free standing punching bag
The bag goes in without tools or fixings: a rented flat, an office, a garage. Allow about 2 m / 6.5 ft of clear space around it to move in your stance and throw kicks. To move it, drain the base if you filled it with water.

Frequently asked questions
Should I fill a free standing punching bag with water or sand?
Sand, for stability: this base reaches about 83 kg / 182 lb filled with sand, against about 62 kg / 137 lb with water. Use fine, dry sand poured through a funnel into the cap. Water has one advantage: you can drain it to move the bag.
Free standing or hanging punching bag: which one?
A free standing bag sets up in minutes, with no drilling, and moves from room to room: the format for rented homes and floors where nothing can be fixed. A hanging bag needs a load-bearing ceiling, a wall bracket or a stand, and gives a wide swing that works your footwork.
Will a free standing punching bag bother the neighbours?
The bag touches neither ceiling nor walls, so no fixing carries vibration into the building. The springs at the foot of the post take the shock before the base. The sound of the glove on the cover is the same as in any bag session.
Can you kick a free standing punching bag?
Yes: kickboxing and MMA are part of its use, round and front kicks included. Fill the base with sand to absorb the heaviest strikes, and keep about 2 m / 6.5 ft of clear space around the bag.
Which floors do the suction cups grip best?
Smooth, clean and dry floors: tiles, polished or smooth concrete, vinyl. All 12 suction cups, 8.4 cm / 3.3 in across, grip together there. Wipe them before setting up and after each move to keep a full grip.
