Mexican Monster t-shirt

- Regular price€29,00

The essentials: the youngest super-middleweight world champion in history, titled at twenty, and nicknamed The Mexican Monster by Mike Tyson himself. This tee carries a three-tone posterised portrait, treated like a campaign poster. Premium cotton 180 gsm, crew neck, heat transfer print. Black, men's or women's cut, 7 sizes S to 4XL, €29, free shipping.
This is not a fighter's portrait. It is a campaign portrait.
The artwork built like a political poster
Look at the method: flat posterisation, three tones only, eyes straight to camera, ground split into two colours, name set vertically on either side. That is the exact grammar of the candidate poster — not of a fight bill.
And it lands uncomfortably well, because David Benavidez's career has looked like a candidacy. For years he publicly called for a fight with Canelo Alvarez at super middleweight. He was the mandatory challenger, the number one in the division behind him — and the fight was never granted.
So he did what an ignored candidate does: he moved up. Twice.
The nickname came from Mike Tyson
The Mexican Monster is not a promoter's invention. Mike Tyson gave it to him, on an episode of his podcast.
And it says something precise. Benavidez was born in Phoenix, Arizona: he is American. The word Mexican points to his father's heritage, not his passport. A nickname handed over by another champion, naming where he comes from rather than where he is from.
David Benavidez
- Born on 17 December 1996 in Phoenix, Arizona. Trained by his father, like his older brother Jose, also a professional.
- Youngest super-middleweight world champion in history: he took the WBC title at 20, on 8 September 2017.
- Unbeaten: 32 fights, 32 wins, 26 inside the distance.
- WBC light-heavyweight champion since 2025, retained against Anthony Yarde in November that year.
- On 2 May 2026 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, he beat Gilberto Ramirez by stoppage in the sixth and took his cruiserweight belts.
- That night he became the first male boxer in history to win a major title at super middleweight, light heavyweight and cruiserweight.
What that says about the artwork: the fight he called for never came. So he went and took three divisions instead, and came out with a record nobody else had. The campaign poster got elected another way.
Two cuts
This listing comes in a men's cut and a women's cut, same artwork, same black colourway, same size range. The selector asks for the cut before the size.
What it looks like on
The panel forms a centred vertical rectangle, taller than it is wide, with slightly torn edges. On black, the red and blue-grey of the ground give the structure and the cream of the face comes forward at the centre: the eye goes to the eyes, which look straight ahead.
It is a face-on and calm artwork at the same time: no flames, no gloves, no fight scene. A man looking at you.
The detail that matters: the name is printed in vertical capitals inside the two bands of ground, in a tone very close to the ground itself. It only reads up close — that is deliberate, and it is what gives the artwork its two levels: a figure at distance, a name up close.
Premium cotton, crew neck, short sleeves. The matte cotton suits the flat tones and stays comfortable all day.

Frequently asked questions
Who gave Benavidez the nickname The Mexican Monster?
Mike Tyson, on an episode of his podcast. Benavidez was born in Phoenix, Arizona: he is American. The word Mexican points to his father's heritage, not his nationality.
What is David Benavidez's record?
Unbeaten: 32 fights, 32 wins, 26 inside the distance. Youngest super-middleweight world champion in history, titled at 20 in 2017. WBC light-heavyweight champion, then winner over Gilberto Ramirez on 2 May 2026 for the cruiserweight belts.
Why the poster style?
The portrait is posterised in three tones on a split ground, with the name set vertically: that is the grammar of the candidate poster. It fits a fighter who spent years publicly calling for a fight he was never granted.
Why is his name hard to read?
The name is printed in vertical capitals inside the two bands of ground, in a tone very close to the ground. It is deliberate: it only reads up close. From a distance you see the portrait; the handwritten signature and the words THE MEXICAN MONSTER, bottom right, also appear only up close.
Does it come in a women's cut?
Yes. The selector offers a men's cut and a women's cut, with the same artwork, the same black colourway and the same range, S to 4XL.
Which size should I take?
Standard European cut: take your usual size. Seven sizes, S to 4XL, in both cuts.
