A 34 cm shell with an integrated instep
The shell height quoted by the maker is 34 cm / 13 in, instep included: that is the figure to compare with the distance between your knee and your ankle bone before ordering. Three designs on the same build, and the foot is covered as a continuation of the shell.
That is where it matters most: on a roundhouse kick a few centimetres out, it is not the shin that lands, it is the instep. And if it meets a raised elbow, a knee or a hip, the metatarsals take it. That is one of the most common injuries in muay thai and kickboxing, and one of the slowest to heal, because you walk on it every day.
Hence the rule: a shin guard with no instep guard covers half the problem. On this model the two parts are one, and the foot piece wraps the top of the foot to the base of the toes.
A 34 cm shell and an integrated instep: how it is built
34 cm / 13 in shell height, the maker's figure from its product sheet. It is curved, matt black, and runs without a break into the instep piece.
The inside view shows the part that really counts: a contoured black foam lining, with moulded location ridges either side of where the shin sits. They are what stops the shell rotating around the leg, before the straps even come into play.
The hold comes from wide hook-and-loop bands behind the calf.
Which of the three designs to choose
The ground is black on all three. What changes is the screen print: blue, silver or red. The pattern combines diagonal lines on the shell and a zone of fine raised dots on the upper outer section.

Your size
Two sizes, M and L. The only figure the maker publishes is the 34 cm / 13 in shell height, taken from its product sheet; it does not say which size that corresponds to. We therefore give no height-to-size conversion for this model.
The reference to use: measure the distance between the bottom of your knee and your ankle bone, leg straight. That is the length the shell has to cover. For a full numeric chart, the sock shin guards publish theirs, from 130 to 185 cm / 4 ft 3 in to 6 ft 1 in.
The tip: tighten the lower strap first, then the upper one. That order pulls the shell flat against the shin instead of riding it upwards. The lining ridges should sit either side of the bone, not on top of it.

Frequently asked questions
How tall is this shin guard?
34 cm / 13 in of shell, the maker's figure. It suits long limbs, where a short shell leaves the upper shin uncovered.
Is the foot guard included?
Yes. The shell runs on without a break into an instep piece that wraps the top of the foot. It is worth checking on any protection: a shin guard with no foot piece covers half the exposed area.
Why protect the instep?
Because the foot has 26 bones, five of them metatarsals — long thin bones under very little skin. A roundhouse kick a few centimetres out lands on the instep rather than the shin: if it meets an elbow, a knee or a hip, they take it. It is a common injury and a slow one to heal.
How do you stop shin guards rotating around the leg?
Two things act before the straps: the size, and the lining. This model has moulded foam ridges either side of the shin that locate the bone. They should sit either side of the crest, not on it. Then tighten the lower strap before the upper one.
Which colourways are available?
Three designs on a black ground: blue, silver or red. The selector pairs the size and the shade, for example M — black and blue.
How do you look after shin guards?
Wipe the outside after every session and let them air dry, never on a radiator or in a closed bag. No washing machine: water gets between the shell and the foam and makes it swell. A shin guard put away damp degrades from the inside.
