The essentials: sock type shin guards — a stretch sleeve you pull on over the foot, coming up under the knee. Padded insert running the full height of the shin at the front, adjustable hook-and-loop ankle strap, and a foot stirrup that passes under the sole leaving the toes free. 4 colours, 3 sizes indexed on height, from 130 cm to 1.85 m / 4 ft 3 in to 6 ft 1 in. Sold as a pair. €39, free shipping.
A stirrup under the foot, not straps
A rigid shell is held by straps, and a strap that loosens lets the piece rotate round to the side of the calf. This model blocks rotation from below: the stirrup passes under the sole of the foot, and a hook-and-loop strap circles the ankle above it. That is the only adjustment point, and it is enough. The sleeve being stretch, the maker's chart covers 130 cm to 1.85 m / 4 ft 3 in to 6 ft 1 in of height.
Nothing can turn, because nothing is simply laid on.
The trade-off is worth knowing before buying: a soft insert does not absorb what a rigid shell absorbs. This is the right choice for technical training, bag work, coming back from injury and for children. For heavy kick sparring, a rigid shell such as the 34 cm / 13 in muay thai model adds a layer of protection.
Stretch sleeve and ankle strap: how it is built
Stretch sleeve with no fastening: it pulls on over the foot like a sock and comes up below the knee. At the front, a padded insert covers the full height of the shin — the maker's cutaway shows it as a single plate running from the instep to the top of the calf.
An adjustable hook-and-loop strap circles the ankle, above the stirrup: it is the only adjustment point on the model. The stirrup passes under the sole and wraps the top of the foot, leaving the toes free and the heel open.
The 4 colours
Black, red, blue and fuchsia pink. On all four, the top edge of the sleeve is a slightly deeper tone than the rest, which marks a clean band under the knee.

Size conversion
The maker publishes a numeric chart here, indexed on height — the right method for this kind of protection.
| Size | Wearer's height | Corresponds to |
|---|---|---|
| S | 130 to 155 cm / 4 ft 3 in to 5 ft 1 in | Child and teenager |
| M | 155 to 170 cm / 5 ft 1 in to 5 ft 7 in | Teenager and adult |
| L | 170 to 185 cm / 5 ft 7 in to 6 ft 1 in | Adult |
This chart also serves as a reference for the three other models in the catalogue, whose makers publish nothing. One caveat: it applies to a stretch sleeve, more forgiving than a rigid shell on in-between measurements.
Good to know: this model goes down to 130 cm / 4 ft 3 in of height, that is a child. Governing bodies issue youth boxing licences from around 6 years old: for a young practitioner doing controlled sparring, a soft sleeve suits better than a rigid shell cut for an adult.

Frequently asked questions
What size shin guard should I choose?
Follow height, not weight. The maker's chart gives S from 130 to 155 cm / 4 ft 3 in to 5 ft 1 in, M from 155 to 170 cm / 5 ft 1 in to 5 ft 7 in and L from 170 to 185 cm / 5 ft 7 in to 6 ft 1 in. The full table is above on this page.
Is there a shin guard for children?
Yes, this model. Its S covers 130 to 155 cm / 4 ft 3 in to 5 ft 1 in of height, that is a child or a young teenager. A soft sleeve suits a young practitioner better than a rigid shell cut for an adult.
What is the difference between a sock shin guard and a shell model?
Hold and absorption. The sock grips the whole circumference of the leg and cannot rotate, but its soft insert absorbs less. The rigid shell takes more, at the cost of strap adjustment that can loosen. Sock for technique and bag work, shell for heavy sparring.
Are the toes covered?
No, deliberately. The stirrup passes under the sole and wraps the top of the foot to the base of the toes, but leaves the toes and heel free — which keeps footwork and the pivot of the foot intact.
How does it stay in place with no calf strap?
Through the compression of the sleeve around the whole circumference of the leg and through the stirrup under the foot, which blocks rotation from below. A hook-and-loop strap at the ankle adjusts the tension.
How do you wash a sock shin guard?
Cold hand wash, then dry flat in open air. The sleeve washes right through; on a rigid shell you wipe the inside and let it air. No tumble dryer: heat slackens the knit and the sleeve loses its hold.
