The essentials: an Esprit Boxe boxing robe, long, black, hooded, worn closed to the bottom of the legs. Gold marking on the back: the official Esprit Boxe logo and the motto FOR THE GLORY. This is the robe for the ring walk, not a bathrobe. 3 sizes: S, M and L. €59, free delivery.
Why a boxer walks out in a robe
The reason is physiological. Between the end of the warm-up in the changing room and the first bell, ten to twenty minutes often pass: presentation, the walk to the ring, the announcement of the fighters, the referee's instructions. Muscle temperature drops through all of it. The robe is there to hold it.
It is also why a boxing robe is satin rather than towelling. Towelling soaks up sweat and cools the body by evaporation — the opposite of what you want. Satin slides over the skin, comes off in one movement and absorbs nothing.
The third use came later: once fights were televised, the robe became the place for the name. Boxers had their own embroidered on it, or their gym's, or a sponsor's, and wore it back to camera for the whole walk.
Cut, fabric and finish
A long robe, cut well below the knee, hood up in the photographs. The cut is generous across the shoulders and drawn in by the belt. The fabric has a satin drape that catches the light along the folds, clearly visible under ring lights.
The marking sits on the back, between the shoulder blades, in gold: the official Esprit Boxe logo and, beneath it, the motto FOR THE GLORY. It is the only light element on the garment.
Worth knowing: both photographs on this page are in-situ shots, taken from behind in the entrance corridor and in the ring. They show the drape of the garment and the back marking in real conditions, but there is no cut-out shot of the fabric, the lining or the inside of the hood.

Frequently asked questions
Why do boxers wear a robe to the ring?
To hold the heat built in the warm-up. Ten to twenty minutes often pass between the changing room and the first bell — presentation, walk, announcements, instructions — and muscle temperature drops through all of it.
Why satin and not towelling?
Because towelling soaks up sweat and cools the body by evaporation, which is the opposite of what a robe is for. Satin slides over the skin, comes off in one movement and absorbs nothing.
Are the shorts included?
No, this is the robe on its own. If you want a matching set, the CHAMP robe and shorts comes as a pair.
Which size should I take?
Three sizes, S, M and L. The cut is generous across the shoulders and drawn in by the belt, so take your usual size — a robe is worn over kit, not fitted.
Can a name or a club badge be embroidered on it?
The robe is supplied with its gold marking on the back. Any additional embroidery is done by a local workshop; take the garment to them rather than washing it first, so the fabric is measured flat.
How do you look after a satin robe?
Cold hand wash or a delicate machine cycle in a net, no bleach, no tumble dryer. Hang it to dry on a wide hanger: satin creases readily and hanging is what avoids ironing. If you must iron, use a cool iron on the reverse.
