A garment with one job
The ring walk has been a codified moment since the 1920s, when American professional boxing began staging itself for radio and then for television. The fighter crosses the hall covered, climbs into the ring, is announced, and uncovers.
The garment exists for two reasons. The first is thermal: the body comes out of a full dressing-room warm-up and must not cool during the five to ten minutes of the introductions. The second is theatrical: it is the last moment a fighter controls his own image before the fight takes over.
Satin follows from that. It catches stage lighting as no other fabric does, which is why nothing has replaced it in a century.
The artwork
The official Esprit Boxe logo runs the full width of the shoulder blades and repeats small on the left chest. On the gold version it is printed in black: the contrast is judged to hold under stage lighting, where a tone-on-tone mark disappears.
On the black and white versions, gold side stripes run down the armhole openings. Satin does the job fleece cannot: it throws the light back on the walk to the ring.
The garment
Satin, sleeveless, hood, full-length zip, wide bound armholes. Straight cut.

Our advice: satin catches the light, which is what makes it work under the lamps at a show and what sets it apart from an ordinary hoodie. For a club, the gold reads best on photo and video. For everyday gym use, look at the fleece sleeveless hoodie.

Frequently asked questions
What is a ring walkout jacket?
The garment a fighter wears to cross the hall and climb into the ring, then removes before the first bell. It keeps the body from cooling after the warm-up, and it is the last thing he controls before the fight starts.
Why are they made in satin?
Because satin catches stage lighting as no other fabric does. That is why nothing has replaced it since the ring walk was codified in the 1920s.
What size should I order?
European cut — take your usual size, with no conversion to apply. Six sizes, S to XXXL, in all three colourways.
Which colour works best for a club?
The gold reads strongest on photo and video. The black and white versions carry gold side stripes down the armholes, which does the same job in a quieter register.
Can you wear it outside the ring?
It is built for competition and show nights. For daily training a fleece piece suits better, since satin is a shell fabric rather than an absorbent one.
How do you wash satin?
Machine wash at 30 °C / 86 °F inside out, no tumble dryer, no iron on the print. Satin takes neither high heat nor a fast spin.
