Star panel Muay Thai shorts

- Regular price€39,00

In short: A leg cut into five pointed panels, each edged in white and carrying a star. The most pronounced cut in the collection. 8 sizes, XS to 4XL. €39.
Five panels instead of four: what that changes
The number of panels on a Thai short is not decorative. The more there are, the more the fabric splits into narrow bands, and the wider the leg opens at the moment of the movement. A four-panel short already clears a kick; a five-panel short divides the leg more finely still.
The trade-off is the one every Thai tailor works with: cut the leg too little and it pulls on the thigh, cut it too much and the garment stops holding its shape. Five is the far end of what the traditional cut does.
What the shorts look like
Black ground. The leg is cut into five pointed panels, each edged with a broad white trim and carrying a white five-pointed star.
The wide elastic waistband is white, picking up the trim and framing the whole. Satin finish, no lettering.
Black and white in movement
Five panels edged in broad white trim on a black ground is the maximum contrast in the range. When the leg lifts, the light bands separate and the movement becomes legible from the back of a hall — gold on a dark ground does not produce that effect.
The white waistband picks up the trim and frames the whole. For the classic four-panel cut in nine colourways, see the panelled Muay Thai short.

Worth knowing: five panels is the widest leg opening in the range. If you throw a lot of high kicks and have found a four-panel short restrictive, this is the one that answers it.
Getting the size right
Five panels rather than four means the leg opens further, but the size is taken normally. Beyond that, the point that causes most ordering errors: Thai-made shorts run small and most guides tell you to size up. Not here. This is a European cut — take your usual size. Eight sizes, XS to 4XL, where most of the market stops at XXL. In a groin guard, go one size up.

Frequently asked questions
What are the split panels on Muay Thai shorts for?
To open the leg at the moment of the kick. The more panels a short has, the more the fabric splits into narrow bands and the wider the leg opens. This model has five, against four on the classic cut.
What size Muay Thai shorts should I get?
Take your usual size. These are cut to European sizing, so the standard advice to order one size up — which applies to Thai-made shorts — does not apply here. Eight sizes run XS to 4XL. If you train in a groin guard, go one size up.
Which Muay Thai short gives the most freedom on high kicks?
The one with the most panels. Five narrow bands separate further than four wider ones, so the fabric clears the thigh sooner in the movement. Above that the high side split does the rest.
Can you wear Muay Thai shorts for boxing?
Yes. The short leg and high split take nothing away from footwork, and plenty of boxers train in them. The one difference is the low-blow line: boxing shorts mark it with a waistband above the navel, Thai shorts do not.
Do these come in big and tall sizes?
Yes, up to 4XL. Most of the market stops at XXL on a pair of Thai shorts.
How do you wash Muay Thai shorts?
Machine wash inside out at 30 °C / 86 °F, no tumble dryer, and never put an iron directly on the design. Skip the fabric softener: it coats the weave and slows how fast sweat moves through it.
