Women's boxing has only been Olympic since 2012
The champion belt in this set took a long time to exist for women. Women's boxing only entered the Olympic programme in 2012, in London — the last Olympic sport to open to both sexes.
On the professional side, the wait was just as long for the historic titles: the Lonsdale Belt, the oldest trophy in British boxing, created in 1909, was not won by a woman until May 2023, by the Welsh boxer Lauren Price. One hundred and fourteen years.
That is what the gold object worn at the waist of this set stands for: a trophy that opened to women more recently than most of the gyms they train in.
The four pieces
The robe: satin with vertical red and white bands, a short cut stopping at the top of the thigh, blue-lined hood, long sleeves with blue facings. The blue belt ties and leaves two long hanging ends.
The crop top: red and white bands on the right side, blue field with white stars on the left. Short cut, thin straps.
The shorts: bright metallic blue, high waist, short leg.
The belt: a dark strap carrying wide gold-finish plates, including a larger oval centre plate. It is worn at the waist, over the shorts.

The set comes in one size. The maker publishes neither a measurement chart nor a range.
Two things help the fit: the robe belt ties, which takes up a difference in waist, and the champion belt adjusts on its strap. The satin pieces are cut to a standard base with no stretch panel. If you want a set offered in several sizes, the red satin women's set comes in M and XL.

How do you look after a satin robe?
Cold hand wash or a delicate machine cycle in a net, no bleach, no tumble dryer. Hang it to dry on a wide hanger: satin creases readily and hanging is what avoids ironing. If you must iron, use a cool iron on the reverse.
