On 8 January 2013, Mayweather Promotions filed the TMT mark with the United States Patent and Trademark Office in class 25 — clothing, footwear, headgear — with the drawing specified stroke by stroke. The bar of the left T, the notch of the M and the bar of the right T form one continuous line, and that is the drawing on the front panel.
Floyd Mayweather carried two nicknames. Pretty Boy as an amateur, because he came out of fights unmarked. Money as a professional. The Money Team came from the second, and the initials travelled a long way beyond boxing gyms.
The lettering, near and far
The logo is printed flat in white: the surface stays smooth and the weave of the cloth shows through the mark, which gives a clean line with no build-up. At three metres you read TMT. At one metre you pick out THE MONEY TEAM printed smaller underneath, and the continuous stroke linking the three letters. On the white colourway the print works tonally and comes through at about a metre.
