The essentials: Mike Tyson took the world heavyweight title at 20 years and 4 months, a record that has stood since 1986. Bust in his likeness, gloves hanging from a chain. At 53.5 × 50 cm / 21 × 19.7 in this piece needs a console, a plinth or a deep wall niche — it is not a shelf ornament. Plaster and resin, gold finish over marbled white. €1,299, free insured shipping.
Twenty years and four months
On 22 November 1986 at the Las Vegas Hilton, Mike Tyson stopped Trevor Berbick in the second round and became the youngest world heavyweight champion in history, at 20 years and 4 months. No fighter has taken that record since.
The bust captures the Tyson who came after: shaved head, set jaw, and the facial tattoo he has worn since February 2003, inked by tattooist S. Victor Whitmill days before his fight with Clifford Etienne.
What you see
Bust cut below the chest, head slightly turned. Face and torso are worked in marbled white; the tattoo, the irises and the pair of boxing gloves hanging from a chain are in a gold finish. One shoulder is left as raw stone, like a fragment of a broken antique statue.
What a photograph cannot give you is scale. At 53.5 cm / 21 in tall and 50 cm / 19.7 in wide, it covers roughly the footprint of a 24-inch television laid flat. From 3 m / 10 ft you read a white silhouette and two gold gloves; from 1 m / 3 ft the grain of the plaster and the relief of the tattoo come out. The gloves hang free in front of the chest, so allow 10 cm / 4 in of clearance at the front.

Buying tip: set the piece at eye level, 1.20–1.40 m / 47–55 in off the floor, with raking light from one side. The gold of the tattoo only catches light at three quarters; head-on under a ceiling fitting it stays dark. A plain dark wall behind brings out the marbled white.
Where a bust this size actually fits
A console 60 cm / 24 in deep takes the piece with no overhang, gloves included. On a low hallway unit, allow the same depth and a top that can carry a concentrated load on a flat base. In a gym trophy cabinet, give it a dedicated shelf: it dominates anything under 30 cm / 12 in standing beside it.
