Karaganda, Athens, then ten years on top
Golovkin was born on 8 April 1982 in Karaganda, Kazakhstan. He became amateur world champion in Bangkok in 2003, then took silver at the 2004 Athens Games at middleweight.
Turning professional in 2006, he held at least one world middleweight belt from 2010 to 2018 and put together 20 consecutive title defences — level with Bernard Hopkins's divisional record.

Frequently asked questions
What does GGG mean?
The repeated initials of Gennady Gennadyevich Golovkin. It became his ring name during his run at middleweight.
Who is Gennady Golovkin?
A Kazakh boxer born in Karaganda in 1982, amateur world champion in 2003 and Olympic silver medallist in Athens 2004, then world middleweight champion from 2010 to 2018.
What is Golovkin's middleweight record?
20 consecutive title defences, level with Bernard Hopkins for the divisional record, across eight years holding at least one belt.
How many colours are there?
Four: black, grey, navy and white, all at the same price.
What size should I take?
European cut — take your usual size, with no Asian sizing to convert. Six sizes from S to XXXL, all at the same price. Over training kit, go up one.
How do I care for the print?
Machine wash at 30 °C / 86 °F inside out, no tumble dryer, and never run an iron over the print. Heat transfer film holds for years on that routine and gives way to heat, not to washing.
