Atlanta bronze, and the one fight he still disputes
At the Atlanta Olympics in 1996, a 19 year old American boxed the featherweight tournament. He reached the semi-final and lost on points to the Bulgarian Serafim Todorov, on a decision the American delegation protested immediately. He left with bronze.
It is the only official loss of his career, amateur or professional. Todorov never made it as a professional. Mayweather signed his first professional contract a few weeks later. Those same Atlanta Games are the ones where Muhammad Ali lit the Olympic cauldron, on 19 July 1996.
