No robe, no socks
From his first professional fights, Tyson walked to the ring with no robe, in plain black trunks, black boots and no socks. Nothing loose, nothing shiny, no sponsor's name anywhere.
The choice came from Cus D'Amato and his reading of a fight: what the opponent sees during the walk is already part of the work. Stripped kit against men in embroidered satin sends a message before the first punch. This canvas keeps that plainness — no setting, no text, a white ground and a gesture.
What you see
Portrait format, pure white ground. The boxer is framed from the waist up, mouth open, right arm raised with the red glove held high at the right of the frame, the wrist wrapped in white and carrying the Everlast mark. The other arm is folded across the chest, bare handed, the forearm tattooed. Dark blue trunks.
The body is built from brown and grey strokes that break up towards the outside into spatter and flicked droplets. The red glove is the only saturated colour. From 3 m / 10 ft you read a figure and a red mark; from 1 m / 3 ft you can see the outline is never closed.

Worth knowing: the white ground merges into a white wall and the figure reads as though it were painted straight onto the plaster, which is the intended effect and asks for a plain wall. On a coloured wall, a wooden frame gives the edge back. Frames are sold separately: wooden frame up to 100 cm / 39 in per side, XXL wooden frame from 110 to 200 cm / 43 to 79 in, or aluminium frame in 8 finishes.
A white ground asks for a plain wall
Allow 50 × 70 cm / 20 × 28 in over a desk and 90 × 130 cm / 35 × 51 in in a living room. On wallpaper or a coloured wall, add a wooden frame so the canvas has a clear edge; on white plaster, leave it unframed and the figure appears to float. Why did Mike Tyson enter the ring without a robe?

Yes, pure white, with no border printed around it. On a white wall the figure appears to sit directly on the plaster; on a coloured wall a wooden frame gives the canvas a clear edge.
Is there any text on this canvas?
Only the Everlast mark on the white wrist wrap of the raised glove. There is no quote, no title and no signature.
Does the canvas come with a frame?
No, the canvas ships on its own, rolled in a protective tube. Frames are sold separately: wooden frame up to 100 cm / 39 in per side, XXL wooden frame from 110 to 200 cm / 43 to 79 in, or aluminium frame in 8 finishes. The wooden kits are 2.5 cm / 1 in thick and come with instructions.
How do I clean a canvas print?
A dry microfibre cloth handles almost everything. For a mark that stays, use a barely damp cloth with no detergent, wiping across the surface. No abrasive sponge, no glass cleaner.
