EVA puzzle mat
- €24,00

The essentials: an EVA puzzle mat in high density foam (80 kg/m³ / 5 lb/ft³), in 100 x 100 cm / 39 x 39 in tiles (1 m² / 10.8 sq ft each) that interlock on all four puzzle edges, with finishing borders included. Four thicknesses — 25, 30, 40 or 50 mm / 1, 1.2, 1.6 or 2 in — and 3 reversible colourways: black/grey, blue/red, green/yellow. Built for martial arts (karate, judo, taekwondo, grappling), gymnastics and home gyms. Minimum order 20 m² / 215 sq ft, delivery included, floor plan drawn free of charge. From €19 per tile, i.e. €19 per m². Standard delivery included.
The puzzle mat is the simplest way to fit out a dojo, a multi-purpose hall or a training corner at home. Tiles of 1 m² / 10.8 sq ft in EVA foam, four interlocking edges, straight borders supplied to close the perimeter cleanly: the surface goes down like a jigsaw, with no glue and no tools. Extend it, shrink it or stack it away as the room requires.
Reversible: two looks in one tile
Every tile carries two faces in different colours. Turn the tiles over to change the mood of the room or to mark out a working zone, without buying anything else.
Why this puzzle mat is the gym standard
It is the most widely used flooring in clubs and home gyms, for good reasons.
- Immediate installation. Four interlocking puzzle edges and finishing borders supplied: the surface goes up and comes down without glue or tools.
- Cushioning and safety. High density EVA foam absorbs falls and protects the joints, from a play mat to a full combat surface.
- Non-slip and hygienic. A tatami-style embossed surface, stable under bare feet, wiped clean with a sponge, and it does not hold moisture the way a woven mat does.
- Modular and reversible. Three colourways, two faces per tile, and a surface that follows the exact shape of your room.

Which thickness for which discipline
The more falls and throws a practice generates, the thicker the mat.
- 25 mm / 1 in — fitness, gentle gymnastics, children's areas, floor protection.
- 30 mm / 1.2 in — karate, taekwondo, barefoot boxing, general dojo use.
- 40 mm / 1.6 in — judo, aikido, wrestling: falls and throws come more often.
- 50 mm / 2 in — grappling, BJJ and heavy throwing zones: maximum cushioning.
Reversible colourways and laying
The mat comes in three combinations, every tile reversible: black/grey for a plain finish, blue/red and green/yellow for the classic colours of dojos and competition areas. Laying is edge to edge on a flat, clean floor; the puzzle teeth hold the tiles together and the straight borders close the perimeter. A damaged tile is replaced on its own. On the surface, two textures exist: H40, embossed tatami style (standard, the one in the photos), and H50, ribbed, available on request.
Send us a room plan and we work out the layout
Quantities are expressed in m²: 1 tile = 1 m² / 10.8 sq ft, so your floor area in m² is your number of tiles (minimum order 20 m² / 215 sq ft). Send us the plan of your room with its dimensions at info@esprit-boxe.com: we draw the layout and the exact quantity so nothing is cut for nothing.
Puzzle mat or fitness floor tiles
This puzzle mat and our EVA fitness floor tiles share the same foam and the same 1 m² format. The difference is the use: the puzzle mat comes in dojo colourways (blue/red, green/yellow) and goes up to 50 mm / 2 in to absorb falls and throws — it is the tatami choice for martial arts. For a plain black and grey home gym built around lifting, the fitness floor tiles are the fit.
The Flexi-Roll mat roll unrolls in one piece and stores rolled up: the floor is cleared in minutes, which suits a multi-purpose hall. After a continuous surface for fast footwork? Look at our smooth vinyl tatami (grappling, MMA) and rice straw tatami (judo in a gi).
Frequently asked questions
What are EVA puzzle mats made of?
High density EVA foam (80 kg/m³ / 5 lb/ft³), in reversible tiles of 100 x 100 cm / 39 x 39 in with four puzzle edges and finishing borders included. It is a supple, cushioning and non-slip material, designed for barefoot use.
How thick should mats be for judo or martial arts?
25 to 30 mm / 1 to 1.2 in for fitness, karate or taekwondo; 40 mm / 1.6 in for judo, aikido and wrestling; 50 mm / 2 in for grappling, BJJ and heavy throwing zones. The more often bodies hit the floor, the thicker the mat.
How many tiles do I need for my floor area?
One tile measures 100 x 100 cm / 39 x 39 in, that is 1 m² / 10.8 sq ft. Your number of tiles equals your floor area in m²: 20 m² / 215 sq ft = 20 tiles, which is also where orders start. Send your room plan and we work out the exact layout.
How are the tiles laid?
Edge to edge, interlocking the four puzzle sides, on a flat and clean floor. No glue is needed. The straight borders supplied close the perimeter of the surface neatly.
Do you draw a layout plan?
Yes. Send the plan of your room with its dimensions to info@esprit-boxe.com: we draw the layout and the exact quantity, and send you a quote.
What is the difference with a vinyl tatami?
The EVA puzzle mat interlocks, moves and stores easily, and suits barefoot work. A vinyl tatami gives a smooth, continuous surface better suited to the fast footwork of grappling and MMA. Both are available in the shop.
