The essentials: a boxer in headgear on guard, glove raised, with the word BOXING in large capitals below the bust. Black adhesive vinyl, two landscape sizes 48 × 42 cm and 64 × 56 cm / 19 × 17 and 25 × 22 in. Transfer film and instructions included. €19 in 48 cm, €25 in 64 cm.
The high guard and the man who built it
The tight guard, gloves against the cheeks and chin tucked, has a name: the peek-a-boo. It was developed by trainer Cus D'Amato at his Gramercy Park gym in New York. Its first great result dates from 30 November 1956: Floyd Patterson became world heavyweight champion at 21. D'Amato would take the method up again thirty years later with a teenager from Brooklyn, Mike Tyson.
That is the position held by the boxer in the drawing: elbows tight, right glove up at cheekbone height, left shoulder high.
The design
Landscape format. The boxer is framed at the bust, three-quarter view, turned to the right. He wears boxing headgear with forehead protection and high cheeks, the chin strap following the jaw. The right arm is extended forward, glove closed, the forearm crossing the field.
Below the bust, the word BOXING in solid capitals runs the full width of the drawing; the glove sits over the G and the N, so lettering and silhouette overlap. The body is a solid black area with white reserves drawing the deltoid, the biceps and the fold of the elbow.

Frequently asked questions
What size of wall sticker should I choose?
The format is landscape, so the width of the wall decides. Allow 70 cm / 28 in of clear wall for the 64 × 56 cm / 25 × 22 in and 55 cm / 22 in for the 48 × 42 cm / 19 × 17 in. Above a desk or a bench, the larger size holds the scale.
What is the peek-a-boo guard?
A very tight guard, gloves against the cheeks and the upper body moving laterally throughout, developed by Cus D'Amato. Its first world title came with Floyd Patterson on 30 November 1956, and it made Mike Tyson famous thirty years later.
Will the sticker hold on a painted wall?
Yes, on smooth, clean, dry paint, dusted and degreased. On textured render or a stipple finish the adhesive only touches the peaks of the relief and will not hold. The full surface chart lists every surface, tile and glass included.
Can it be removed without marking the wall?
Yes. Warm the vinyl with a hairdryer on its low setting, then peel slowly, folding the sticker back against the wall rather than pulling it towards you. One thing to know: a sticker left for years in direct sunlight shields the paint from ageing, so its outline stays lighter when removed.
Does it come in a colour other than black?
This model is cut in black vinyl only. For a coloured version of a boxer design, the Best School of Life sticker comes in 16 colours and the Mike Tyson sticker in 20.
