Brazil wolf MMA shorts

In short: Green, yellow and blue: the colours of the country that brought jiu-jitsu into modern MMA. This fight short pairs the Brazilian flag with a yellow wolf head. 8 sizes, XS to 4XL. €39.
Ordem e Progresso, and the Brazilian ground game
The banner across the globe on the Brazilian flag reads Ordem e Progresso — order and progress. On a fight short the phrase lands oddly well: jiu-jitsu is a discipline of positions, where you move to the next only once the last one is secured.
That logic is what changed modern fighting. In 1993 Royce Gracie showed that a lighter man could beat three opponents in one night by holding position rather than by out-hitting anyone. Thirty years on, nobody trains MMA without Brazilian ground work in the toolkit.
What the shorts look like
A two-zone composition. The right leg carries the Brazilian flag: green ground, yellow lozenge, blue globe and the Ordem e Progresso banner, in a brushstroke treatment. The left leg is black with a large yellow wolf head and lettering.
The waistband is black with a yellow trim. Clean side slits. Sublimated print.
Two zones on one short: what that gives in guard
This model does not treat both legs the same way: the flag on the right, the yellow wolf on black on the left. In closed guard the legs come together and the two motifs sit side by side — that is the position where the composition reads best.
Standing, the short reads differently depending on which side you show. For the full detail of the fight short cut, see the grey geometric fight short.

Worth knowing: no-gi grappling is where this short is most at home: no gi to catch on, a drawcord that stays tied, and a print sublimated into the fibre rather than laid on top of it.
Getting the size right
European cut — take your usual size. Eight sizes, XS to 4XL, where most of the market stops at XXL on a fight short. The two-zone composition is scaled per size, so the flag holds the same proportion from XS to 4XL. The drawcord takes up a change in waist measurement. In a groin guard, go one size up.

Frequently asked questions
Are these shorts suitable for no-gi jiu-jitsu?
Yes. The side slits clear the hip for guard work and leg passes, the flat drawcord waistband stays tied in a scramble, and the print is sublimated into the fibre so mat friction does not crack it.
What does Ordem e Progresso mean?
Order and progress, in Portuguese — the motto on the banner across the globe of the Brazilian flag. It is drawn from a positivist formula and has been on the flag since 1889.
What is the difference between MMA shorts and boxing shorts?
An MMA short is built for the ground as well as the feet. It runs longer, to just above the knee, with a side slit on each leg so a closed guard and a leg pass do not bind the hip, and a flat drawcord waistband that stays tied when an opponent pulls on it. Boxing shorts have none of that.
Do these fit true to size?
Yes. European cut — take your usual size. Eight sizes run XS to 4XL. The drawcord takes up a change in waist measurement. If you train in a groin guard, go one size up.
Does the print wear off in the wash?
No. The design is sublimated into the fibre rather than laid on top of it, so there is no layer to crack or peel on the mat. Wash inside out at 30 °C / 86 °F and skip the fabric softener.
How do you wash MMA shorts?
Machine wash inside out at 30 °C / 86 °F, no tumble dryer, and no iron on the design. Avoid fabric softener: it coats the weave and slows how fast sweat moves through it.
