Sold singly, 59 cm / 23 in with a 45 mm / 1.8 in grip
59 cm / 23 in overall, strap not included, with a grip 45 mm / 1.8 in across. It is the only one of the four sold singly: the right choice to try the drill, or to replace one piece of an existing pair.
It does not stop at the eyelids either. The same reflex can pull the head, the neck, even the trunk away from the stimulus. In other words: the body backs off and looks away, at exactly the moment a boxer has to do the opposite — eyes open, head mobile but the gaze fixed, and slip in the right plane.
That is the whole point of this piece of kit. A foam stick coming at the face triggers the reflex with no risk of injury, which lets you repeat it hundreds of times and learn to control it. No punching bag does that, because a bag never comes towards you.
The stick
59 cm / 23 in overall, maker's measurement, strap not included. The upper half is coloured foam carrying two black lines, the lower half forms the black grip, 45 mm / 1.8 in in diameter. The end of the grip extends into a braided black and white cord strap, worn round the wrist.
The foam is soft: it deforms on contact and does not transmit the impact. That is what allows work at real speed, including with an inexperienced partner.
The 4 colours
Fluo green, camel, royal blue and fluo pink. All four share the same build, only the shade of the upper half changes.
The choice of shade is not only cosmetic. A fluo colour is picked up earlier in peripheral vision, which makes the drill more legible for a beginner. Camel stands out less against a gym wall, which raises the difficulty.

How to use it
Three drills cover most of what the tool allows.
- The slip: the partner drives the stick straight at the face, head height. You slip to the side without stepping back, eyes open and guard in place.
- The roll: the stick sweeps horizontally at temple height. You go under it by bending the legs, torso upright, without dropping the head.
- The counter: same start as the slip, but you throw a shot immediately after the slip. That is the drill that builds timing, not just movement.
The tip: this model is sold singly. It is the right choice to try the drill or to replace one piece of an existing pair. To work both hands and keep the rhythm going, the sticks sold in pairs let the coach alternate angles.
You may also like
- Pair of plain sticks — two sticks in a strong colour with lettering and a flat strap, if you want to work both hands.
- Pair of patterned sticks — two sticks with contrasting graphics along the whole length, if you want a visual cue picked up earlier.
- Pair of unmarked plain sticks — two completely smooth sticks, red and black or all black, if you want a plain cue and more difficulty.
All four models are gathered in the boxing training sticks collection.
Frequently asked questions
What is a boxing training stick for?
Working slipping, timing and reflexes with a partner. A foam stick coming at the face triggers the menace reflex — the involuntary blink at an object approaching the eye — with no risk of injury, which lets you repeat it until you control it. A punching bag cannot do that: it never comes towards you.
How long is this stick?
59 cm / 23 in overall, strap not included, with a 45 mm / 1.8 in grip diameter. Those are the maker's figures. The upper half is coloured foam, the lower half forms the black grip.
Is the stick sold singly or in pairs?
Singly on this model. The other three references in the catalogue are sold in pairs.
Does it hurt when you get hit?
The foam is soft and deforms on contact: you feel the touch, but it does not transmit the impact. That is precisely what allows work at real speed. Without that slight sensation the drill would lose its point — it is what teaches the body to slip for real.
Can you train alone with a stick?
No, you need a partner or a coach: they hold the stick and create the stimulus. For solo work on the same qualities, reflex balls and double end bags are worked on your own.
Which colour should I choose?
A fluo shade — green or pink — is picked up earlier in peripheral vision, which makes the drill more legible when starting out. Camel stands out less against a gym wall and raises the difficulty. Royal blue sits between the two.
