From kickboxing to MMA without changing his guard
Before the UFC, Israel Adesanya was a professional kickboxer: more than 80 fights on his feet, including a world title won in China. He came to MMA late, at 26, and took the UFC middleweight title in 2019.
His technical signature comes from that past: he keeps a kickboxer's guard — very mobile, torso pulled back, hands low, long range — where most MMA fighters adopt a more compact stance to defend takedowns. He answers the risk with a reading of distance built over thousands of stand-up rounds. That is why boxing and kickboxing keep producing champions in a sport that is not theirs.
What you see
Portrait format, painted in broad strokes and nervous lines. The fighter holds the right half, framed from the hips up, bare chested, right arm raised holding a championship belt whose plate carries a red and white star, glove marked with the promotion's letters, hair bleached at the sides.
Behind him, his profile is repeated at full size and fills the ground, eyes closed. Bottom left, a smaller fight scene shows him in a guard, fists closed. The palette mixes gold, ochre, purple, blue and magenta, with lines of colour cutting across the whole canvas. From 3 m / 10 ft you read a gold figure and a belt; from 1 m / 3 ft the two other planes separate.

Worth knowing: three planes on one canvas, so it keeps giving up detail after weeks on the wall. From 60 × 90 cm / 24 × 35 in the fight scene at the bottom left reads from a sofa. Frames are sold separately: wooden frame up to 100 cm / 39 in per side, XXL wooden frame from 110 to 200 cm / 43 to 79 in, or aluminium frame in 8 finishes.
Three planes, three viewing distances
The profile in the ground carries at five metres, the figure with the belt at two, the fight scene at under one. The canvas needs size for all three to coexist: allow 60 × 90 cm / 24 × 35 in as a minimum and 90 × 130 cm / 35 × 51 in for the lines of colour crossing the canvas to separate. The size chart by wall type covers the other placements room by room.

Frequently asked questions
Who is Israel Adesanya?
A New Zealand fighter who came to MMA from professional kickboxing, with more than 80 stand-up fights behind him. He won the UFC middleweight title in 2019 and fights out of a kickboxer's long range guard.
What size canvas should I hang above a sofa?
The working rule is about two thirds of the width of the furniture below it, centred 145 cm / 57 in from the floor. Over a 200 cm / 79 in three-seater, that means 80 × 120 cm / 31 × 47 in; over a two-seater, 60 × 90 cm / 24 × 35 in; in a hallway, 30 × 45 cm / 12 × 18 in. The full size chart by wall type is on the Ali vs Liston 1965 page.
How many scenes are on this canvas?
Three: the figure holding the belt on the right, the profile repeated at full size across the ground, and a smaller fight scene at the bottom left. The third reads from 60 × 90 cm / 24 × 35 in.
What wall does this canvas suit?
A plain pale wall, where the gold and ochre carry. The palette is warm and dense enough that a patterned or strongly coloured wall competes with it.
Does the canvas come with a frame?
No, the canvas ships on its own, rolled in a protective tube. Frames are sold separately: wooden frame up to 100 cm / 39 in per side, XXL wooden frame from 110 to 200 cm / 43 to 79 in, or aluminium frame in 8 finishes. The wooden kits are 2.5 cm / 1 in thick and come with instructions.
How do I clean a canvas print?
A dry microfibre cloth handles almost everything. For a mark that stays, use a barely damp cloth with no detergent, wiping across the surface. No abrasive sponge, no glass cleaner.
