The essentials: a record poster: Joe Frazier in red gloves against a ground of falling green code, a nod to the opening of The Matrix, his nickname and name in large letters, and under a rule the full line — 37 fights, 32 wins, 27 inside the distance. 10 sizes from 20 × 30 cm / 8 × 12 in to 110 × 160 cm / 43 × 63 in. Frame sold separately. From €19 to €109 depending on size, free standard shipping.
Olympic champion with a broken thumb
At the 1964 Tokyo Games Joe Frazier was only the reserve: he was not meant to travel. The American heavyweight selected ahead of him was injured at the trials, so Frazier took his place. In the semi-final he broke his left thumb. He said nothing — pulling out would have cost the United States the medal — and fought the final with the damaged hand.
He won it, and came home with the only American boxing gold of those Games. Six years later he was heavyweight champion of the world. The band across this poster records that he held the title undisputed, from 1970 to 1973.
What you see
Portrait format, black ground crossed by bright green trails falling from top to bottom — the code rain of The Matrix, released in 1999, set behind a boxer of the 1970s. The boxer is shown from the waist up, bare chested, red gloves held in guard, looking three quarters to camera.
In the lower third: a line of small white capitals giving the years of his reign, then his nickname and name in large yellow letters, and under a rule the statistics line in fine white type. From 3 m / 10 ft you read a name on green; from 1 m / 3 ft every figure can be read.

Worth knowing: a statistics poster is read close up, which makes it a piece for a hallway, an entrance or a home gym, hung at eye level. Below 40 × 60 cm / 16 × 24 in the figures stop being legible from more than a metre away. Frames are sold separately: wooden frame up to 100 cm / 39 in per side, XXL wooden frame from 110 to 200 cm / 43 to 79 in, or aluminium frame in 8 finishes.
Hanging the three record posters as a set
The three posters share one layout, one band height and one type size, so side by side they read as a triptych. Allow 5 to 8 cm / 2 to 3 in between them: at 40 × 60 cm / 16 × 24 in the three take about 1.30 m / 51 in of wall, at 50 × 70 cm / 20 × 28 in about 1.60 m / 63 in. The size chart by wall type covers the other placements room by room.

Frequently asked questions
What was Joe Frazier's professional record?
37 fights, 32 wins, 27 by knockout, 4 losses and 1 draw — the line printed on this canvas. He held the undisputed heavyweight title from 1970 to 1973.
Was Joe Frazier an Olympic champion?
Yes, at Tokyo in 1964, as a late replacement, and with a broken left thumb suffered in the semi-final. He kept the injury quiet, won the final and took the only American boxing gold medal of those Games.
What size canvas should I hang above a sofa?
The working rule is about two thirds of the width of the furniture below it, centred 145 cm / 57 in from the floor. Over a 200 cm / 79 in three-seater, that means 80 × 120 cm / 31 × 47 in; over a two-seater, 60 × 90 cm / 24 × 35 in; in a hallway, 30 × 45 cm / 12 × 18 in. The full size chart by wall type is on the Ali vs Liston 1965 page.
Can I hang several posters from the set?
That is what the layout is for: three posters — Joe Frazier, Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis — share the same composition and type. Hung 5 to 8 cm / 2 to 3 in apart, the three take about 1.30 m / 51 in of wall at 40 × 60 cm / 16 × 24 in.
Does the canvas come with a frame?
No, the canvas ships on its own, rolled in a protective tube. Frames are sold separately: wooden frame up to 100 cm / 39 in per side, XXL wooden frame from 110 to 200 cm / 43 to 79 in, or aluminium frame in 8 finishes. The wooden kits are 2.5 cm / 1 in thick and come with instructions.
How do I clean a canvas print?
A dry microfibre cloth handles almost everything. For a mark that stays, use a barely damp cloth with no detergent, wiping across the surface. No abrasive sponge, no glass cleaner.
