Forty-five years old, twenty years later
On 5 November 1994, in Las Vegas, George Foreman climbed into the ring against Michael Moorer, WBA and IBF world heavyweight champion and nineteen years his junior. Foreman was behind on all three scorecards when, in the tenth round, he landed a short right to the chin. He was world champion again at 45, twenty years after losing his title in Kinshasa. He is still the oldest heavyweight world champion there has been.
He wore the same red trunks that night as in 1974. The line on this sticker has never had a better example.
The design
A landscape typographic composition, no illustration. Two lines of italic capitals leaning right: NEVER on the first line, drawn outlined — the letters are hollow, only the outer stroke is cut; GIVE UP ! on the second, in solid letters, exclamation mark included. The second line is wider than the first and aligns on its right edge.
The contrast between hollow and solid letters carries the reading: at three metres / ten feet you see GIVE UP first, then NEVER appears. In the gold and silver finishes, the outlined line catches the light on its stroke alone.

Tip: gold on a black or charcoal wall is the combination that comes through best in a room lit by spotlights: the stroke of the outlined line catches raking light. The 152 × 84 cm / 60 × 33 in wants a clear panel of at least 1.80 m / 5 ft 11 in; below that the 101 × 56 cm / 40 × 22 in stays comfortable. The fitting guide covers squeegeeing hollow letters, which want the card run letter by letter.

Frequently asked questions
What size of text sticker for a gym wall?
Measure the available width: the 152 × 84 cm / 60 × 33 in wants a clear panel of at least 1.80 m / 5 ft 11 in, the 101 × 56 cm / 40 × 22 in about 1.20 m / 4 ft. For a bedroom or an office, the 57 × 32 cm / 22 × 13 in is enough. The usual rule has the text covering two thirds of the width of the wall it dresses.
Who is the oldest heavyweight world champion?
George Foreman, on 5 November 1994 in Las Vegas, at 45. Behind on points against Michael Moorer, nineteen years his junior, he put him down with a short right in the tenth. The record still stands.
What do the gold and silver finishes actually give?
They are vinyls coloured through the material with a metallic effect, not prints: the colour does not flake and the stroke of the outlined letters throws back spotlight. On a black or charcoal wall gold comes through best; on a light wall black keeps the best legibility from a distance.
How do you get the text perfectly straight?
The transfer film holds every letter in place: you apply the whole line at once. Mark a guide in erasable pencil or run a string line, press the top of the film first, check it, then squeegee downwards. The five steps are set out in the fitting guide.
Are hollow letters harder to fit?
They simply want the card run letter by letter rather than in a broad sweep: the outline of the NEVER line is fine, and it is that stroke which has to bond before the film is peeled. If a fragment stays on the film, press it back and run the card over that spot again.
