Red cobra MMA shorts

In short: Same animal, different temperament: here the cobra is worked in blood red on a black honeycomb, jaws open and fangs out. 8 sizes, XS to 4XL. €39.
The honeycomb, a signature of MMA
The ground on this short is not decorative by accident: the honeycomb, or hexagonal pattern, has become a visual signature of modern MMA. It comes from the shape of the cage — the octagon — and from the fencing around it. It has been on rashguards, gloves and walkout kit since the 2010s.
It is the graphic code that separates MMA kit from boxing kit most clearly: where boxing works on satin and flat colour, MMA works on texture and structure.
What the shorts look like
Black ground structured by a hexagonal honeycomb pattern. On the right leg, a red cobra head, jaws open and fangs out, surrounded by red shards. Red bands run obliquely across the left leg with white lettering.
The waistband is black. Clean side slits. Sublimated print.
A red cobra and the red corner
In amateur competition one of the two corners is red by rule. The red dominant on this short covers that case directly, which the green cobra does not. Confirm with your association before a sanctioned bout.
Red is also the only colour on the short: the ground stays black, which avoids a saturated block and keeps the cobra head as the single point of focus. For the full detail of the fight short cut, see the grey geometric fight short.

Worth knowing: black ground with one red figure is easier to pair than a full red short, and it still meets a red-corner requirement. Check your association’s rules before a sanctioned card.
Getting the size right
European cut — take your usual size. Eight sizes, XS to 4XL, where most of the market stops at XXL on a fight short. The honeycomb is scaled per size, so the grid holds the same density from XS to 4XL. The drawcord takes up a change in waist measurement. In a groin guard, go one size up.

Frequently asked questions
Why does the hexagonal pattern keep coming back in MMA?
It echoes the octagon and the fencing around it, and it has been standard on rashguards, gloves and walkout kit since the 2010s. It is the clearest graphic separation between MMA kit and boxing kit, which works on satin and flat colour.
What is the difference between MMA shorts and boxing shorts?
An MMA short is built for the ground as well as the feet. It runs longer, to just above the knee, with a side slit on each leg so a closed guard and a leg pass do not bind the hip, and a flat drawcord waistband that stays tied when an opponent pulls on it. Boxing shorts have none of that.
Do these fit true to size?
Yes. European cut — take your usual size. Eight sizes run XS to 4XL. The drawcord takes up a change in waist measurement. If you train in a groin guard, go one size up.
Does the print wear off in the wash?
No. The design is sublimated into the fibre rather than laid on top of it, so there is no layer to crack or peel on the mat. Wash inside out at 30 °C / 86 °F and skip the fabric softener.
Do these come in big and tall sizes?
Yes, up to 4XL. Most of the market stops at XXL on a fight short.
How do you wash MMA shorts?
Machine wash inside out at 30 °C / 86 °F, no tumble dryer, and no iron on the design. Avoid fabric softener: it coats the weave and slows how fast sweat moves through it.
