The speed bag is the tool that separates heavy boxing from fluid boxing. It trains neither power nor mass transfer: it trains rhythm, hand-eye coordination and relaxation. This Esprit Boxe model follows gym standards: a PU leather shell built from 6 stitched and bonded panels, reinforced stitching, lacing at the top and a hanging loop for the swivel.
What the speed bag gives you
- Hand speed: the rebound demands an immediate motor response.
- Shoulder endurance: hands high continuously, the guard settles.
- Timing and cadence: the triple rhythm structures the tempo of striking.
- Complement to the heavy bag: where the bag builds power, the speed bag builds finesse.
A shell in 6 stitched and bonded panels
The number of panels sets how regular the shape is, and therefore how predictable the rebound is. More panels mean a rounder profile and a return that does not wander. The bonding under the stitching keeps the seams from opening under repeated impact.
What 28 x 16 cm changes
Size drives everything on a speed bag: the smaller the bag, the faster and shorter the return; the larger it is, the wider and more readable the path. At 28 x 16 cm / 11 x 6.3 in, this one sits in the middle — quick enough to build cadence, generous enough to leave time to read the trajectory while learning.

Inflating and care
The pump and its nozzle are included: the bag is usable on arrival, once the mounting is in place. Do not over-inflate — a bag that is too hard goes dead, strains its seams and rebounds unpredictably. A firm pressure that still gives under the thumb returns the best feel. Wipe the shell after sweaty sessions; PU leather cleans with a damp cloth, without oily products.
Mounting height: the bottom of the bag should reach between the chin and the mouth, fists up in guard. That placement is what keeps the base and the posture. Work out your adjustment margin before drilling — holes cannot be taken back.

Frequently asked questions
What is in the box?
The speed bag, a pump and its inflation nozzle. The swivel and the platform are chosen separately, which leaves you the choice of mounting height.
What size of speed bag should I choose?
Size drives the speed. Small bags return fast and short, large ones give a wider, more readable path. At 28 x 16 cm / 11 x 6.3 in, this one sits in the middle: quick enough for cadence, generous enough to read the trajectory while learning.
Do I need a swivel and a platform?
A swivel is essential: without free rotation the strap twists and the bag comes back off line. A platform is optional — the swivel can be fixed straight to a beam or a concrete slab.
Speed bag or punching bag: what is the difference?
Two different jobs. A punching bag builds power and mass transfer. A speed bag builds rhythm, hand-eye coordination and relaxation. They complement each other rather than replace one another.
PU leather or real leather: which should I choose?
PU leather asks nothing beyond a wipe with a damp cloth. Real leather is fed once or twice a year, keeps its suppleness and takes on a patina with use.
How do you inflate a speed bag properly?
With the pump and nozzle supplied, up to a firm pressure that still gives under the thumb. Over-inflating makes the bag dead, strains the seams and produces an unpredictable rebound.
