Leather speed bag
- Regular price€69,00

The essentials: a speed bag in real leather. 30 x 18 cm / 12 x 7 in, panels with exposed stitching, ecru cord lacing and a leather hanging loop, in an aged brown. Firm feel, matt rebound, a patina that builds session after session. Pump and nozzle included. Swivel and platform not included. €69 — free delivery.
This one is made of real leather, and you hear it from the first round: the contact is dry and matt, with a short ring. The deep brown, the exposed seams and the ecru lacing carry the look of pre-war gym bags — the ones hung under a solid timber platform.
What real leather brings
- Firm, matt feel: the return is dry, with a short ring
- Patina: the hide marks and darkens with use, so every bag ends up unique
- Longevity: fed once or twice a year, the leather keeps its suppleness and deepens in colour instead of dulling
- A workshop piece: it belongs in a gym with a strong identity, not only on a training wall
A generous size, a readable rebound
At 30 cm / 12 in high by 18 cm / 7 in wide, this bag belongs to the large formats: a wide path, a steady rebound, long rounds without losing cadence. The full size-to-speed table sits on the page of our Esprit Boxe speed bag.
Caring for a leather speed bag
Real leather is not looked after like a synthetic shell. Three rules are enough: wipe it after every sweaty session with a dry or barely damp cloth; feed it once or twice a year with a leather milk or cream, in a thin coat; never dry it near a heat source, which hardens and cracks the grain. Leather that is fed takes on a patina.
Mounting and setting
The bag hangs by its leather loop from a ball-bearing swivel, fixed under a wall platform or straight to the ceiling. Set the height so the belly of the bag sits between the mouth and the eyes in guard. Inflate to a surface that is firm but still gives under the thumb: on a leather bag, over-inflating pulls directly on the exposed seams.

Real leather is fed. Once or twice a year is enough for it to keep its suppleness and take on its patina, even in a humid gym. The bag ships on its own and deflated: plan for the swivel and the mounting. The pump and nozzle are supplied.

Frequently asked questions
Real leather or PU leather: which should I choose?
Real leather gives a firmer, matter feel and takes on a patina with use; in return it asks for regular care. PU leather is happy with a wipe from a damp cloth and handles gym humidity well. For daily use with no upkeep, choose PU; for the material and the patina, choose leather.
How do you break in a leather speed bag?
Inflate it to a firm pressure that still gives under the thumb, then work short rounds for the first few sessions. The hide relaxes over the first hours of striking and the rebound settles into a steadier line. A thin coat of leather milk after two or three weeks helps the panels sit in.
How do you look after a leather speed bag?
Wipe it with a dry or barely damp cloth after every sweaty session, and feed the leather once or twice a year with a leather milk or cream, in a thin coat. Never dry it near a radiator or any heat source: the grain would harden and split.
Do I need a swivel and a platform?
Yes. The bag hangs by its leather loop from a ball-bearing swivel, itself fixed under a wall platform or to the ceiling. Neither the swivel nor the platform is included: both are available separately, which leaves you free to set your own mounting height.
Will the leather change over time?
Yes, and that is the point. The striking zones darken and take on a light sheen while the rest keeps its original brown. That patina is the sign of living leather: it builds session after session and makes each bag recognisable.
At what height should a speed bag be hung?
Set the mounting so the belly of the bag sits between the mouth and the eyes, fists up in guard. Beginners gain from dropping the setting slightly: the shoulders hold out longer and the technique stays clean deeper into the round.
