The essentials: BE STRONGER THAN YOUR EXCUSES, five words across three staggered lines, with YOUR set vertically between two words. Monochrome adhesive vinyl, 4 sizes from 56 × 24 cm to 130 × 56 cm / 22 × 9 to 51 × 22 in, 21 colours including gold and silver. €19 to €39 depending on the size.
Forty-six years old, world title
On 21 May 2011, Bernard Hopkins beat Jean Pascal in Montreal and took the WBC light-heavyweight belt at 46 years and two months. He became the oldest boxer to win a world title, and pushed his own record further three years later, at 49. His reputation rested neither on power nor on speed but on a way of living held without a break for twenty years, with no off-season between fights.
The line on this sticker is therefore not an empty formula: it describes a method that produced a record still standing.
The design
A landscape typographic composition, deliberately staggered. BE sits alone at the start of the first line, top left. STRONGER forms the second line, in bold capitals, shifted to the right. The third line runs THAN, then YOUR set vertically in small capitals, then EXCUSES large.
The block draws a staircase descending from left to right: the space between the words is part of the composition. At three metres / ten feet you read STRONGER and EXCUSES first; the connecting words come after.

Tip: the width-to-height ratio is close to 2.3 to 1: this is a band, not a square. It sits well above a door, along a corridor or as a frieze under a ceiling, where a square format will not fit. In 130 × 56 cm / 51 × 22 in, allow 1.60 m / 5 ft 3 in of clear wall. The fitting guide covers squeegeeing separated words.

Frequently asked questions
What size of text sticker should I choose?
Four sizes, all bands: 56 × 24 cm / 22 × 9 in above a door, 85 × 36 cm / 33 × 14 in on an ordinary panel, 110 × 47 cm / 43 × 19 in and 130 × 56 cm / 51 × 22 in for a gym wall. Allow about 30 cm / 12 in of clear wall on top of the sticker's width.
Who is the oldest boxer to have won a world title?
Bernard Hopkins, on 21 May 2011 in Montreal, at 46 years and two months, beating Jean Pascal for the WBC light-heavyweight belt. He pushed his own record further in 2014, at 49.
Are the words separate when fitting?
No. All five words, including YOUR set vertically, are cut from a single sheet and held by the clear transfer film: the offsets and the gaps are set in advance. That is exactly what the film is for on an asymmetric composition.
Will it hold above a radiator or near a heat source?
The vinyl copes with the warmth of a heated room, but direct prolonged exposure softens the adhesive — that is the principle used with a hairdryer to remove it. Keep about twenty centimetres / eight inches above a radiator. The surface chart covers the other cases, damp rooms included.
Which colours for a grey or dark blue wall?
White, gold and silver come through best on a deep background; mint and yellow give a sharper contrast if the room already has colour. All 21 shades are shown on the photographed chart on this page.
