Twenty years, four months and twenty-two days
On 22 November 1986, at the Las Vegas Hilton, Mike Tyson fought Trevor Berbick for the WBC heavyweight belt. It ended in the second round: Berbick got up, fell again, got up once more and went down a third time before the referee stopped it. Tyson was 20 years, 4 months and 22 days old.
Nobody has ever taken the world heavyweight title younger, and the record still stands nearly forty years on. What the images of that period hold is less the punches than the way he came to the ring: still, no robe, no walkout music, no socks. That is the figure this canvas keeps.
What you see
Tyson is framed to mid thigh, face on, bare chested, both hands on his hips, looking straight into the lens. Behind him, on a black ground, his name runs the full width in pale grey capitals: TYSON.
The letters are wide enough that the centre panel masks part of them — the layout plays on that. From 3 m / 10 ft you see a pale figure on a very dark ground. From 1 m / 3 ft you read the name and pick out the grain of the skin and the line of the shoulders. The palette is black and copper, with no other colour.

How to hang a 5 panel canvas
The five panels go side by side: the image is continuous and reassembles in one piece. Put up the centrepanel first, its middle 145 cm / 57 in from the floor, then add the panels in pairs eitherside, checking the level at each pair. A paper template on the wall before drilling saves redoing the holes.
The width rule is the same as for a single canvas: the set covers about two thirds of the width ofthe furniture below it. The size chart by wall type gives the full size-to-placement table.
