The style Cus D'Amato taught him
When Mike Tyson arrived at the Catskill gym in upstate New York, he was thirteen. Cus D'Amato, who had already taken Floyd Patterson to the world title in 1956, taught him the guard known as peek-a-boo: both fists tight against the cheeks, the torso low, and the head moving laterally without pause. The idea is not to take less, it is to no longer be where the punch arrives.
Tyson turned professional on 6 March 1985 and stopped Hector Mercedes in the first round. D'Amato died on 4 November 1985, a year before his pupil became world champion. It is that learned slip that this canvas freezes.
What you see
A fight scene in high contrast black and white. Tyson holds the centre panel: torso face on, head tilted to the side, a pale glove brought up beside his face, dark trunks with a wide waistband reading EVERLAST. On the right, a second pale glove, fist closed, enters the frame.
Across the two left panels, the opponent is bent forward, seen from behind, light trunks with a dark pleated waistband. The ground is black with no hall behind it: only the bodies are lit. From 3 m / 10 ft you read two figures in opposition; from 1 m / 3 ft the film grain and the folds of the trunks appear.

How to hang a 5 panel canvas
The five panels go side by side: the image is continuous and reassembles in one piece. Put up the centrepanel first, its middle 145 cm / 57 in from the floor, then add the panels in pairs eitherside, checking the level at each pair. A paper template on the wall before drilling saves redoing the holes.
The width rule is the same as for a single canvas: the set covers about two thirds of the width ofthe furniture below it. The size chart by wall type gives the full size-to-placement table.
