In short: An armoured helmeted warrior worked in red and black with engraved ornament. The full helm is the oldest trade-off in fighting: see less to take more. 8 sizes, XS to 4XL. €39.
The helmet, or the trade between seeing and taking
Every piece of protective equipment poses the same problem: what protects gets in the way. An ancient warrior’s full helm cut down his field of vision and his hearing in exchange for a protected skull. Every armourer settled that trade his own way.
The question has not gone away. Headguards in amateur boxing have been through the same argument, and the answer has changed more than once depending on which risk was being weighed.
What the shorts look like
A composition on a black ground with a broad red area set on the diagonal. On the left leg, a helmeted warrior facing front, armour picked out in detail, fist cocked, drawn in red and grey. On the right leg, engraved red ornaments echo the armour motifs.
The waistband is black with white lettering. Clean side slits. Sublimated print.
A red diagonal running across the short
The red area does not follow the seam: it cuts the short diagonally, from the left hip towards the right hem. In movement that line travels with the stride instead of cutting across it horizontally.
The warrior sits astride that diagonal, which places him inside the movement rather than beside it. For the full detail of the fight short cut, see the grey geometric fight short.

Worth knowing: a diagonal panel is rare on a fight short, where most designs follow the seam. It lengthens the leg visually, which a horizontal break does the opposite of.
Getting the size right
European cut — take your usual size. Eight sizes, XS to 4XL, where most of the market stops at XXL on a fight short. The red diagonal crosses the short at the same angle whatever the size. The drawcord takes up a change in waist measurement. In a groin guard, go one size up.

Frequently asked questions
Why was the headguard removed in men’s amateur boxing?
Because the trade-off was reassessed: a headguard protects against cuts but widens the head, and the governing body judged that the reduced field of vision and the larger target changed the risk picture. It is the same argument an armourer faced — what protects also gets in the way.
What is the difference between MMA shorts and boxing shorts?
An MMA short is built for the ground as well as the feet. It runs longer, to just above the knee, with a side slit on each leg so a closed guard and a leg pass do not bind the hip, and a flat drawcord waistband that stays tied when an opponent pulls on it. Boxing shorts have none of that.
Do these fit true to size?
Yes. European cut — take your usual size. Eight sizes run XS to 4XL. The drawcord takes up a change in waist measurement. If you train in a groin guard, go one size up.
Does the print wear off in the wash?
No. The design is sublimated into the fibre rather than laid on top of it, so there is no layer to crack or peel on the mat. Wash inside out at 30 °C / 86 °F and skip the fabric softener.
Do these come in big and tall sizes?
Yes, up to 4XL. Most of the market stops at XXL on a fight short.
How do you wash MMA shorts?
Machine wash inside out at 30 °C / 86 °F, no tumble dryer, and no iron on the design. Avoid fabric softener: it coats the weave and slows how fast sweat moves through it.
