The embroidery is stitched into the cloth rather than laid on it: the gold thread does not flake and does not peel, where a print eventually cracks on looped pile. It sits on a woven honeycomb band at the foot of the towel, the flattest part of the sheet and the one that holds a stitch. The sheet measures 70 x 140 cm / 28 x 55 in, in white terry cotton.
What the visual shows

New terry reaches its full absorbency after two or three washes, once the manufacturing finish has gone. Wash it before first use and avoid fabric softener, which closes the loop pile.

What is the difference between a hand towel and a bath sheet?
A hand towel is around 50x100 cm / 20x39 in, a bath sheet 70x140 cm / 28x55 in and up. This model is 70x140 cm: it wraps an adult coming out of the shower, where a hand towel serves mainly for face and hands.
Why does new terry absorb poorly?
Cotton leaves the mill with a finish that smooths the fibres and makes handling easier. It washes out after two or three cycles and absorbency then rises markedly. That is why a towel should be washed before first use.
Does the embroidery survive washing?
Yes, the thread is stitched into the fabric rather than laid on the surface like a flock or a transfer: it does not crack and does not flake. Wash at 40 °C / 104 °F maximum and avoid ironing directly on the embroidery.
Why do boxers wear a robe to the ring?
To keep the heat in muscles warmed up in the dressing room. A cooled muscle reacts more slowly: the ring robe, inherited from the bathrobe, holds that benefit until the first bell.
