The essentials: an anatomical plate showing two écorché figures mid punch, muscles exposed and annotated with eighteen captions, on an aged paper ground. Landscape format, 10 sizes from 20 × 30 cm / 8 × 12 in to 110 × 160 cm / 43 × 63 in. Frame sold separately. From €19 to €109 depending on size, free standard shipping.
A straight punch starts at the floor, not the shoulder
The plate shows it through its captions: in a properly thrown straight, the chain of transmission starts at the rear foot. The ankle drives, the knee extends, the hip turns, the trunk carries the rotation, and the arm only guides the force to the target.
The muscles doing most of the work are therefore not the ones in the arm. They are the obliques and the latissimus dorsi for the rotation, the glutes and quadriceps for the drive, the anterior deltoid for the finish. A boxer who punches with the arm alone loses most of his power and damages his shoulder. It is also why a boxer's strength work is built on legs and core rather than on the bench.
What you see
Landscape format, beige aged paper ground, stained and scuffed. The title Boxing Anatomy runs across the top in black capitals. At the centre, two écorché figures face each other, one throwing a right straight and the other in a guard, the muscles drawn in blue-green and muted red in the manner of old anatomical plates.
Eighteen boxed captions are arranged around them, linked to the muscles by fine rules: neck, trapezius, deltoid, latissimus dorsi, obliques, glutes, quadriceps, calves. From 3 m / 10 ft you read two figures and a title; from 1 m / 3 ft every caption can be read.

Worth knowing: an annotated plate is read close up, which puts it in a club gym, a home gym or a physiotherapy practice. Below 50 × 70 cm / 20 × 28 in the eighteen captions become illegible. Frames are sold separately: wooden frame up to 100 cm / 39 in per side, XXL wooden frame from 110 to 200 cm / 43 to 79 in, or aluminium frame in 8 finishes.
Eighteen captions set the size
The two figures read from a distance, but the value of the plate sits in the eighteen boxed captions linked to the muscles by fine rules. They become legible at a metre from 50 × 70 cm / 20 × 28 in, and at two metres from 90 × 130 cm / 35 × 51 in. Below 40 × 60 cm / 16 × 24 in you are left with two figures and a title. The size chart by wall type covers the other placements room by room.

Frequently asked questions
Which muscles do you punch with in boxing?
Not the arm. The chain starts at the rear foot and runs through the glutes and quadriceps for the drive, the obliques and latissimus dorsi for the rotation, and the anterior deltoid to finish. The arm only guides the force.
How many captions are on the plate?
Eighteen, boxed and linked to the muscles by fine rules — neck, trapezius, deltoid, latissimus dorsi, obliques, glutes, quadriceps, calves among them.
What size keeps the captions readable?
From 50 × 70 cm / 20 × 28 in they read at a metre, and from 90 × 130 cm / 35 × 51 in at two metres. Below 40 × 60 cm / 16 × 24 in only the two figures and the title remain.
What size canvas should I hang above a sofa?
The working rule is about two thirds of the width of the furniture below it, centred 145 cm / 57 in from the floor. Over a 200 cm / 79 in three-seater, that means 80 × 120 cm / 31 × 47 in; over a two-seater, 60 × 90 cm / 24 × 35 in; in a hallway, 30 × 45 cm / 12 × 18 in. The full size chart by wall type is on the Ali vs Liston 1965 page.
Does the canvas come with a frame?
No, the canvas ships on its own, rolled in a protective tube. Frames are sold separately: wooden frame up to 100 cm / 39 in per side, XXL wooden frame from 110 to 200 cm / 43 to 79 in, or aluminium frame in 8 finishes. The wooden kits are 2.5 cm / 1 in thick and come with instructions.
How do I clean a canvas print?
A dry microfibre cloth handles almost everything. For a mark that stays, use a barely damp cloth with no detergent, wiping across the surface. No abrasive sponge, no glass cleaner.
