Kid Dynamite before Iron Mike
Before he was Iron Mike, Tyson was billed as Kid Dynamite, in the early professional days when his fights rarely lasted a round. One line explains both nicknames: of his first nineteen professional fights, every one ended inside the distance and twelve ended in the first round.
In 1985, his first year as a professional, he climbed through the ropes fifteen times. No heavyweight keeps that schedule now: a reigning champion averages two fights a year.
What you see
Portrait format, textured grey ground reading as concrete. The boxer is shown full length and face on, feet apart, arms drawn in front of the body, bare chested, dark trunks, high boots, in high contrast black and white.
Both gloves are replaced by red double outlines; the wrist of the lead glove is drawn in turquoise. Those are the only areas of colour. From 3 m / 10 ft you see two points of light in empty space; from 1 m / 3 ft the whole figure and the grain of the wall come through.

Worth knowing: this is the only one of the three Tyson neon canvases that shows the whole body, so it needs more height than a bust to read properly. Below 50 × 70 cm / 20 × 28 in the figure gets small on a wall; allow 80 × 120 cm / 31 × 47 in on a bare span. Frames are sold separately: wooden frame up to 100 cm / 39 in per side, XXL wooden frame from 110 to 200 cm / 43 to 79 in, or aluminium frame in 8 finishes.
A full figure needs height
The subject runs the whole height of the frame, boots to head, so every centimetre lost shrinks the face. Allow 70 × 100 cm / 28 × 39 in as a minimum for the face to read from a sofa, and 110 × 160 cm / 43 × 63 in for a home gym wall. The size chart by wall type covers the other placements room by room.

Frequently asked questions
Does the neon on this canvas light up?
No. The glow is printed, not lit: there is no tube, no wiring and no power supply. The effect comes from a double outline and a halo worked into the artwork, which is why it reads as neon from a distance and as ink up close. If you want a wired sign, that is a different product family — see the boxing neon signs.
What size canvas should I hang above a sofa?
The working rule is about two thirds of the width of the furniture below it, centred 145 cm / 57 in from the floor. Over a 200 cm / 79 in three-seater, that means 80 × 120 cm / 31 × 47 in; over a two-seater, 60 × 90 cm / 24 × 35 in; in a hallway, 30 × 45 cm / 12 × 18 in. How do I clean a canvas print?
A dry microfibre cloth handles almost everything. For a mark that stays, use a barely damp cloth with no detergent, wiping across the surface. No abrasive sponge, no glass cleaner.
