A brand that started with swimming costumes
The name on the waistband is older than modern boxing. Everlast was founded in New York in 1910 by Jacob Golomb, 17, the son of a Bronx tailor, making swimming costumes he guaranteed for a full season — which is where the name comes from.
The move into boxing came in 1917, when a young fighter asked him for gloves that would last longer than a few bouts and Golomb built a reinforced version. Six years later Jack Dempsey defended his world title in Everlast gloves and the brand became the standard supplier of the ring. On this canvas it appears where it has always been: on the waistband of a pair of trunks.
What you see
Portrait format. The boxer is photographed full length in a guard, bare chested, light trunks with a wide waistband carrying the brand mark. The treatment is high contrast black and white, on a textured grey ground reading as raw concrete.
Both gloves are replaced by a red double outline with the wrists drawn in turquoise, imitating a lit tube. Those are the only areas of colour in the image. From 3 m / 10 ft you see two red points floating; from 1 m / 3 ft the whole figure appears.

Worth knowing: 110 × 160 cm / 43 × 63 in covers 1.76 m² / 19 sq ft in one piece, which is the size that holds a home gym wall. At the other end, 20 × 30 cm / 8 × 12 in makes a gift that is easy to post. Frames are sold separately: wooden frame up to 100 cm / 39 in per side, XXL wooden frame from 110 to 200 cm / 43 to 79 in, or aluminium frame in 8 finishes.
Two points of light on a grey ground
Everything rests on the two red outlines: they read from 30 × 45 cm / 12 × 18 in upwards, while the grain of the concrete and the lettering on the waistband need 70 × 100 cm / 28 × 39 in. At 110 × 160 cm / 43 × 63 in the canvas behaves like a light source on a gym wall. The size chart by wall type covers the other placements room by room.

Frequently asked questions
Does the neon on this canvas light up?
No. The glow is printed, not lit: there is no tube, no wiring and no power supply. The effect comes from a double outline and a halo worked into the artwork. If you want a wired sign, that is a different family — see the boxing neon signs.
What size canvas should I hang above a sofa?
The working rule is about two thirds of the width of the furniture below it, centred 145 cm / 57 in from the floor. Over a 200 cm / 79 in three-seater, that means 80 × 120 cm / 31 × 47 in; over a two-seater, 60 × 90 cm / 24 × 35 in; in a hallway, 30 × 45 cm / 12 × 18 in. The full size chart by wall type is on the Ali vs Liston 1965 page.
What is the largest size available?
110 × 160 cm / 43 × 63 in, or 1.76 m² / 19 sq ft in one piece. It is the largest size on this canvas and matches the maximum offered across the collection; at the other end, 20 × 30 cm / 8 × 12 in stands on a shelf.
How old is the brand on the trunks?
Everlast was founded in New York in 1910, making swimming costumes guaranteed for a season. It moved into boxing gloves in 1917, and Jack Dempsey defended a world title in them in 1923.
Does the canvas come with a frame?
No, the canvas ships on its own, rolled in a protective tube. Frames are sold separately: wooden frame up to 100 cm / 39 in per side, XXL wooden frame from 110 to 200 cm / 43 to 79 in, or aluminium frame in 8 finishes. The wooden kits are 2.5 cm / 1 in thick and come with instructions.
How do I clean a canvas print?
A dry microfibre cloth handles almost everything. For a mark that stays, use a barely damp cloth with no detergent, wiping across the surface. No abrasive sponge, no glass cleaner.
