The essentials: Ali on the heavy bag in a training gym, photographed in black and white, bags hanging and walls covered in bills, with his best known line in handwritten white letters bottom right. Landscape format, 10 sizes from 20 × 30 cm / 8 × 12 in to 110 × 160 cm / 43 × 63 in. Frame sold separately. From €19 to €109 depending on size, free standard shipping.
The first floor gym above a chemist's shop
The gym where Ali built his career was the 5th Street Gym, in Miami Beach. One floor above a chemist's shop, a narrow staircase, no air conditioning — the trainer Angelo Dundee and his brother Chris had run it since 1950. The young Cassius Clay arrived in 1960, back from the Rome Games, and prepared his fights there for more than twenty years.
The heat was treated as a tool: Dundee kept the windows shut to reproduce the conditions of a fight under the lights. Ali said he hated every minute of training, and told himself to suffer now and live the rest of his life as a champion. This canvas shows those minutes, not the title nights.
What you see
Landscape format, black and white. The boxer holds the right of the frame, seen in profile, arm at full extension on a hanging heavy bag, bare chested, light trunks. Around him, the gym: more bags lined up from the ceiling, framed bills covering the back wall, a window on the right.
Bottom right, the line float like a butterfly, sting like a bee in handwritten white letters, followed by the signature Muhammad Ali. From 3 m / 10 ft you read a gym scene; from 1 m / 3 ft the bills on the wall become visible one by one.

Worth knowing: this is the canvas that makes most sense in a home gym or a converted garage: it shows the work, not the trophy. Facing a real heavy bag, the mirroring does the rest. Frames are sold separately: wooden frame up to 100 cm / 39 in per side, XXL wooden frame from 110 to 200 cm / 43 to 79 in, or aluminium frame in 8 finishes.
A whole gym inside the frame
The subject is not only the boxer: the lined-up bags, the window and the wall of bills take two thirds of the surface and give the scale. Below 50 × 70 cm / 20 × 28 in the back wall turns into grey texture; from 80 × 120 cm / 31 × 47 in the framed bills separate one by one. The size chart by wall type covers the other placements room by room.

Frequently asked questions
Where did Muhammad Ali train?
At the 5th Street Gym in Miami Beach, one floor above a chemist's shop, run by Angelo Dundee and his brother from 1950. Ali came in 1960 on his return from Rome and used it for more than twenty years.
What size canvas should I hang above a sofa?
The working rule is about two thirds of the width of the furniture below it, centred 145 cm / 57 in from the floor. Over a 200 cm / 79 in three-seater, that means 80 × 120 cm / 31 × 47 in; over a two-seater, 60 × 90 cm / 24 × 35 in; in a hallway, 30 × 45 cm / 12 × 18 in. The full size chart by wall type is on the Ali vs Liston 1965 page.
Is there any text on this canvas?
Yes, bottom right: float like a butterfly, sting like a bee in handwritten white letters with the signature Muhammad Ali below. It reads at two metres from 50 × 70 cm / 20 × 28 in.
Is this canvas suitable for a home gym?
It is the one built for it: a working scene rather than a trophy shot, in landscape format that sits above a bench or a rack. Facing a real heavy bag, 80 × 120 cm / 31 × 47 in puts the figure close to life size.
Does the canvas come with a frame?
No, the canvas ships on its own, rolled in a protective tube. Frames are sold separately: wooden frame up to 100 cm / 39 in per side, XXL wooden frame from 110 to 200 cm / 43 to 79 in, or aluminium frame in 8 finishes. The wooden kits are 2.5 cm / 1 in thick and come with instructions.
How do I clean a canvas print?
A dry microfibre cloth handles almost everything. For a mark that stays, use a barely damp cloth with no detergent, wiping across the surface. No abrasive sponge, no glass cleaner.
