Three canvases, one hanging rule
A triptych is not hung like three separate pictures. The rule used by professional hangers: the three panels form one work, whose total width should cover about two thirds of the furniture below it, and whose centre sits 145 cm / 57 in from the floor — the eye height most museums settle on.
The gap between panels is calculated too: 5 to 8 cm / 2 to 3 in. Below that they read as touching and the set becomes illegible; beyond 10 cm / 4 in the eye reads three separate objects and the series effect disappears. At 50 × 70 cm / 20 × 28 in, the three canvases plus the gaps take about 1.65 m / 65 in of wall.

On a wide wall the set replaces a single large piece while letting the composition breathe; count the width of the three panels plus two gaps of 5 to 8 cm / 2 to 3 in before choosing a size. Frames are sold separately: wooden frame up to 100 cm / 39 in per side, XXL wooden frame from 110 to 200 cm / 43 to 79 in, or aluminium frame in 8 finishes.
