Saúl Álvarez had his first professional fight in October 2005, at fifteen. In November 2021, beating Caleb Plant, he became the first undisputed super-middleweight champion in history, with the WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO belts together. Between the two he held world titles in four different weight classes, including middleweight, the one named on this blanket.
What the visual shows
Plain black ground, white lettering centred over four lines in an American college-jersey typeface with arched letters: SAUL CANELO at the top, MIDDLEWEIGHT in lighter type, ALVAREZ in large slanted letters, MEXICO to close. White topstitching runs round the edge. No portrait: the visual is entirely typographic and readable from several metres away.

Technical specifications
Good to know
Wash cold with dark laundry and no fabric softener: the microfibre keeps its softness and the print its contrast. Low-heat tumble drying brings the loft back after several washes.

Frequently asked questions
What size blanket should I choose for a sofa?
150x125 cm / 59x49 in for a two-seat sofa, 200x150 cm / 79x59 in for a three-seat, 125x100 cm / 49x39 in for an armchair or a sofa back. The complete match-up is in the size guide.
Why is Saúl Álvarez nicknamed Canelo?
Canelo means cinnamon in Spanish: the nickname comes from the colour of his hair, red, which is rare in Mexico. He carried it from his amateur days and never dropped it.
How do you wash a dark blanket without it bleeding?
Cold, with dark laundry, no softener and no bleach. The first two washes can release a little dye, as any new dark textile does.
How many weight classes has Canelo won titles in?
Four: super-welterweight, middleweight, super-middleweight and light-heavyweight. In November 2021 he brought the four super-middleweight belts together against Caleb Plant, a first in that division.
Is the design printed on both sides?
No, on one side only. The reverse is plain and smooth, so the blanket can be turned over when you want a neutral finish on the sofa.
