The first Mexican to unify all four belts
On 6 November 2021, in Las Vegas, Canelo Álvarez stopped Caleb Plant in the eleventh round and became undisputed super middleweight champion, holding the WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO titles at the same time.
He is the first Mexican boxer in history to unify all four belts of a division, and one of the few of any nationality since the fourth body came into existence. He was 31, with more than fifty professional fights behind him, having turned professional at fifteen. Mexican boxing having produced more world champions than almost any other country, the achievement carries particular weight there.
What you see
Portrait format, colour photograph on a dark ground. The boxer stands in a ring corner, framed full length, bare chested, arms at his sides, white gloves with red cuffs, eyes turned down.
He wears dark red trunks with a wide white waistband carrying the name of his watch sponsor, Roger Dubuis, and a knee support on the left leg. The red and white ring ropes cross the background and a light shines from above. From 3 m / 10 ft you read a pale figure in the dark; from 1 m / 3 ft the detail of the ring appears.

Worth knowing: the photograph reads at a glance, with no text to decipher, which makes it the canvas for a corridor or an entrance where nobody stops. On a living room wall, allow 70 × 100 cm / 28 × 39 in. Frames are sold separately: wooden frame up to 100 cm / 39 in per side, XXL wooden frame from 110 to 200 cm / 43 to 79 in, or aluminium frame in 8 finishes.
A ring scene read in one go
The pale figure separates from the black at 20 × 30 cm / 8 × 12 in already, which makes it one of the most legible canvases at small size. The ropes, the light and the lettering on the waistband need 60 × 90 cm / 24 × 35 in. The size chart by wall type covers the other placements room by room.

Frequently asked questions
Was Canelo Álvarez an undisputed champion?
Yes — on 6 November 2021 he stopped Caleb Plant in the eleventh to hold the WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO super middleweight titles at once, the first Mexican boxer to unify all four belts of a division.
What size canvas should I hang above a sofa?
The working rule is about two thirds of the width of the furniture below it, centred 145 cm / 57 in from the floor. Over a 200 cm / 79 in three-seater, that means 80 × 120 cm / 31 × 47 in; over a two-seater, 60 × 90 cm / 24 × 35 in; in a hallway, 30 × 45 cm / 12 × 18 in. The full size chart by wall type is on the Ali vs Liston 1965 page.
Is there any text on this canvas?
No title or quote added to the image. The only readable text is on the kit: the watch sponsor Roger Dubuis on the waistband, and the ringside boards in the background.
Is this canvas suitable for a corridor?
It is one of the best in the collection for one: a photograph that reads at a glance, with a pale figure on a dark ground and no text to stop for. 40 × 60 cm / 16 × 24 in is enough on a corridor wall.
Does the canvas come with a frame?
No, the canvas ships on its own, rolled in a protective tube. Frames are sold separately: wooden frame up to 100 cm / 39 in per side, XXL wooden frame from 110 to 200 cm / 43 to 79 in, or aluminium frame in 8 finishes. The wooden kits are 2.5 cm / 1 in thick and come with instructions.
How do I clean a canvas print?
A dry microfibre cloth handles almost everything. For a mark that stays, use a barely damp cloth with no detergent, wiping across the surface. No abrasive sponge, no glass cleaner.
