In 1910, in the Bronx, Jacob Golomb was seventeen. A tailor's son and a swimmer, he made his own swimsuits and guaranteed them for a full season — that promise gave the brand its name. In 1917 a boxer called Jack Dempsey ordered a protective headguard from him; two years later Dempsey took the world heavyweight title in Golomb's gear, and in 1925 Golomb replaced the leather waistband of boxing trunks with an elastic one carrying his own logo. That logo is the one printed on this rug.

The word EVERLAST in white capitals above the brand's yellow chevron, on a plain black ground. The design is centred and printed edge to edge.
Two sizes, two uses
The 60 x 90 cm / 24 x 35 in is a walk-through size: room threshold, sink front, shower exit. The 120 x 180 cm / 47 x 71 in changes the job — it is a bedroom or training-corner surface, laid at the foot of a bed or under a heavy bag. The placement rule stays the same: overhang the furniture by 20 to 40 cm / 8 to 16 in on every visible side.
Technical specifications
Good to know. The 120 x 180 will not fit a 7 kg / 15 lb domestic washing machine. Vacuum it and spot clean it. The 60 x 90 goes in the machine and dries flat.
