Keep the trunk warm, leave the arms free
There is a precise reason why a boxer pulls on a gilet rather than a jacket between sets. The shoulders and forearms shed heat very quickly during effort, while the trunk has to stay warm so the muscles keep their elasticity between two rounds of skipping or shadow work. Hence this quilted sleeveless gilet with wide bands across the body, marked LONSDALE LONDON, in 7 colourways.
A sleeve that grips the biceps or rides up at the wrist gets in the way of exactly the two movements repeated most: skipping, where the forearms turn continuously close to the body, and shadow boxing, where the shoulder has to travel through full range. The gilet settles it by removing the question.
It is also the between-seasons garment — the one you keep on in the gym without overheating after ten minutes.
Cut, fabric and finish
Horizontal quilting across the body, in wide bands. A padded stand collar that holds upright once the zip is up. Full zip, two zipped side pockets with matching pulls, clean bound armholes.
The lining is black on all seven colourways, including the light ones. It shows in the open-front photographs as a plain panel contrasting with the outer.
The markings and the 7 colourways
The back marking is the strong point of the garment: Lonsdale lion, the word LONSDALE and the wording LONDON, in white, printed large between the shoulder blades. At three metres / ten feet, it is the only element you make out. At the front, the same logo is repeated small on the left chest.

Why wear a gilet rather than a jacket in training?
Because the shoulders and forearms shed heat fast during effort while the trunk needs to stay warm to keep the muscles elastic. A sleeve that grips the biceps also gets in the way of skipping and shadow boxing, the two movements repeated most.
Is the back logo large?
Yes — lion, LONSDALE and LONDON printed large between the shoulder blades, in white. At three metres / ten feet it is the only element you make out. The chest logo is small by comparison.

Is it warm enough for winter?

Which size should I take?
Six sizes, M to 4XL. European cut — take your usual size. A gilet is worn over a hoodie, so it is cut with room rather than fitted.
How do you look after it?
Machine wash at 30 °C / 86 °F, inside out, no tumble dryer and no iron directly on the print. Washing inside out is what protects the marking: it is the friction against the drum that dulls a print, more than the water.
