From Pretty Boy to Money
His team-mates on the American amateur squad called him Pretty Boy — because he finished fights without a mark on his face, a direct consequence of his defence. The nickname followed him through his early professional years.
He dropped it in the mid 2000s for Money, at the point where he bought out his own promotional contract and started staging his own fights. The change was not cosmetic: it marks the shift from a boxer on a purse to a boxer taking the gate. Very few athletes have traded a nickname handed to them in a changing room for one chosen as a brand.
What you see
Portrait format, textured concrete grey ground. The boxer is shown from the hips up as a dark, almost monochrome silhouette, outlines softened, the face barely detailed.
Both gloves are redrawn as a red neon tube in double outline, brought together in front of the chest, with a halo that lights the torso from below. Those are the only coloured areas in the image. From 3 m / 10 ft you see two lit shapes floating; from 1 m / 3 ft the whole figure appears.

Worth knowing: a single area of colour on the whole canvas means it hangs anywhere, including in a room that is already busy, because it competes with no palette. The collection holds seven neon effect canvases, portraits and equipment motifs together. Frames are sold separately: wooden frame up to 100 cm / 39 in per side, XXL wooden frame from 110 to 200 cm / 43 to 79 in, or aluminium frame in 8 finishes.
Two lit shapes on a muted ground
The contrast between the red halo and the near monochrome silhouette carries at five metres, so the canvas reads from 30 × 45 cm / 12 × 18 in upwards. It is the grain of the concrete and the detail of the gloves that need surface — allow 70 × 100 cm / 28 × 39 in. The size chart by wall type covers the other placements room by room.

Frequently asked questions
Does the neon on this canvas light up?
No. The glow is printed, not lit: there is no tube, no wiring and no power supply. The effect comes from a double outline and a halo worked into the artwork. For a wired sign, see the boxing neon signs.
Why is Floyd Mayweather nicknamed Money?
He took the name in the mid 2000s, when he bought out his promotional contract and began staging his own fights. His earlier nickname, from his amateur team-mates, was Pretty Boy — because his defence meant he finished fights unmarked.
What size canvas should I hang above a sofa?
The working rule is about two thirds of the width of the furniture below it, centred 145 cm / 57 in from the floor. Over a 200 cm / 79 in three-seater, that means 80 × 120 cm / 31 × 47 in; over a two-seater, 60 × 90 cm / 24 × 35 in; in a hallway, 30 × 45 cm / 12 × 18 in. The full size chart by wall type is on the Ali vs Liston 1965 page.
Is the face detailed on this canvas?
No, deliberately: the figure is treated as a near monochrome silhouette with softened outlines, so that the two neon gloves carry the image. The face is suggested rather than drawn, which is what lets the canvas read from across a room.
Does the canvas come with a frame?
No, the canvas ships on its own, rolled in a protective tube. Frames are sold separately: wooden frame up to 100 cm / 39 in per side, XXL wooden frame from 110 to 200 cm / 43 to 79 in, or aluminium frame in 8 finishes. The wooden kits are 2.5 cm / 1 in thick and come with instructions.
How do I clean a canvas print?
A dry microfibre cloth handles almost everything. For a mark that stays, use a barely damp cloth with no detergent, wiping across the surface. No abrasive sponge, no glass cleaner.
