The essentials: a speed rope with a PVC-coated braided steel cable of 3 m / 9 ft 10 in, on ball bearings for free 360° rotation. Ribbed metal handles of 14 cm / 5.5 in, 170 g / 6 oz all in. Adjustable length by clamping screw, then cut the cable to your measure. Available in 7 colours: black, silver, blue, red, pink, purple, gold. €19 (pink €15), free standard shipping.
This is the boxer's rope: thin, fast, quiet, made to turn quickly and for a long time. A steel cable holds its tension session after session and lets you build cadence without the rope floating.
170 grams, and that is deliberate
The complete rope, metal handles included, weighs only 170 g / 6 oz. On a speed rope, lightness is not a marketing line: it is what lets the rope change direction instantly at the top and bottom of its arc, and so lets you build cadence without extra work from the shoulders.
It is also what sets it apart from a weighted rope of 1.2 kg / 2.6 lb, seven times heavier and built for the opposite purpose: to resist rather than accelerate.
Metal handles of 14 cm
The handles are 14 cm / 5.5 in long with a ribbed surface across the whole grip. Metal gives a thinner, more responsive handle than foam: less material between the hand and the axis of rotation, so the movement is driven from the wrist rather than the forearm.
The ribbing is enough to hold the rope without gripping hard, and metal does not absorb sweat. If your hands warm up quickly or your sessions run past ten minutes, our 16 cm foam handle model will be more comfortable.
The ball bearings make the difference
This is the mechanism linking handle to cable, and it is what sets the maximum speed of a rope. On this model each handle carries a ball bearing on a 360° swivel.
In practice: the cable turns without dragging the handle, so it does not build up twist. You can string double unders and fast sequences together without the rope winding around your wrists or kinking between sets.

The right floor for a coated steel cable. Aim for wood, a training mat, tatami or a rubber surface: these preserve the coating and give a more consistent rebound. Tarmac and bare concrete are abrasive and attack the coating.

Frequently asked questions
What are the dimensions of this skipping rope?
A cable of 3 m / 9 ft 10 in and handles of 14 cm / 5.5 in, for 170 g / 6 oz all in. It ships in an 18 x 15 x 2 cm / 7.1 x 5.9 x 0.8 in box.
What length of skipping rope for someone 1.80 m tall?
About 3.00 m / 9 ft 10 in, which is the length supplied. Stand on the middle of the cable: the handles should reach roughly armpit height. Shorten from there as your cadence improves.
What are ball bearings on a skipping rope for?
Letting the cable turn without dragging the handle. That is what stops the rope building up twist, and what makes double unders and fast sequences possible without it winding around the wrists.
Steel cable or PVC cable for boxing?
Steel holds its tension and stays thin, which is what lets cadence build — the choice for speed work. PVC is softer and more forgiving on the shins, which suits learning the movement and warming up.
Can this model be used outdoors?
On a smooth surface, yes. Aim for wood, a mat, tatami or rubber: these preserve the coating and give a more consistent rebound. Tarmac and bare concrete are abrasive and attack the coating.
What do you do with the surplus cable after adjusting?
Set the length with the clamping screw, skip a few rounds to confirm it, then cut the surplus and refit the end cap. Cut a little long the first time: cable cannot be put back.
