Miami Beach, 25 February 1964
Cassius Clay was 22 and a seven-to-one underdog when he climbed into the ring at the Miami Beach Convention Hall against Sonny Liston. Liston did not answer the bell for the seventh. Clay became world heavyweight champion, and announced his new name, Muhammad Ali, in the days that followed.
The white shorts he wore that night carried Everlast, the New York brand founded in 1910 by Jacob Golomb, which had been outfitting world champions since the 1920s. Those shorts, wide waistband and lettering included, are what the drawing reproduces.
The design
Portrait format, Muhammad Ali full length, face on. He stands with the torso leaning slightly forward, left arm brought across the body and right glove open to the side, in a waiting posture rather than a high guard. The shorts occupy the central third of the composition: they are left as a white reserve, the waistband marked EVERLAST in solid letters.
Everything else — torso, face, legs, gloves — is worked in black areas with reserves that draw the volumes. The outer contour follows the silhouette exactly: on a light wall the sticker reads as a boxer painted straight onto the surface.

Tip: at 112 cm / 44 in tall, Ali reaches real chest height when his feet are set 40 cm / 16 in off the floor: that is what works best in a corridor or beside a door, because you pass him at scale. Allow a clear run of 1.30 m / 4 ft 3 in. The fitting guide sets out squeegeeing step by step.

Frequently asked questions
What size should I choose for a portrait sticker?
Measure the clear height: the 57 × 112 cm / 22 × 44 in wants 1.30 m / 4 ft 3 in of free wall to breathe, the 42 × 82 cm / 17 × 32 in needs a metre / three feet. Set 40 cm / 16 in off the floor, the large size puts Ali at real eye level.
What was Muhammad Ali's real name?
He was born Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr. on 17 January 1942 in Louisville, Kentucky. He announced the name Muhammad Ali in 1964, in the days following his win over Sonny Liston. He was 22 and had just become world heavyweight champion.
What is the lettering on the shorts?
Everlast, the boxing equipment brand founded in New York in 1910 by Jacob Golomb. It was outfitting world champions from the 1920s and appeared on the waistband of Ali's shorts. The drawing reproduces it as it appears in period photographs.
Will the sticker hold on a painted wall?
Yes, on smooth, clean, dry paint, dusted and degreased. On textured render or a stipple finish the adhesive only touches the peaks of the relief and will not hold. The full surface chart lists every surface, tile and glass included.
Is there a white version for a dark wall?
Yes, white and light grey are among the 17 colours. On a black or charcoal wall the white reverses the reading entirely: the shorts become the dark element and the silhouette the light one.
