Red geometric MMA shorts

In short: The same graphic approach as the grey version but in red and black: angular shapes, no figure. The colour of fight gyms, without the imagery. 8 sizes, XS to 4XL. €39.
Why red dominates in fight gyms
Red is the most common colour in combat sports, and not only as a matter of taste. In amateur boxing one of the two corners is red by rule and the other blue, so the colour has been part of the vocabulary of the discipline from the start.
It is also a practical colour to wear on contact kit: training marks show up less on it than on a pale ground. This model takes the colour and leaves out the animal.
What the shorts look like
Red and black dominant. The design is made of angular chevrons and facets, with a broad red area across the hip and upper thigh fading to black at the hem. No figure, no animal, discreet lettering on the waistband.
The waistband is black with a red trim. Clean side slits. Sublimated print.
A fade rather than a figure: reading it in movement
The red holds the hip and upper thigh, then fades into black at the hem. In movement that transition follows the leg instead of cutting across it: the silhouette reads longer than it would with a flat block stopping dead.
That is the opposite of what a figurative motif does, which fixes the eye on one point. Here the eye follows the fade. For the full detail of the fight short cut, see the grey geometric fight short.

Worth knowing: a red short covers the red corner in amateur competition without carrying an image you have to explain. Check your association’s rules before a sanctioned bout.
Getting the size right
European cut — take your usual size. Eight sizes, XS to 4XL, where most of the market stops at XXL on a fight short. The fade is scaled per size, so the transition falls at the same point on the leg from XS to 4XL. The drawcord takes up a change in waist measurement. In a groin guard, go one size up.

Frequently asked questions
Why is red so common in combat sports?
In amateur boxing one corner is red by rule and the other blue, so the colour is built into the discipline. It is also practical on contact kit: training marks show less on red than on a pale ground.
What is the difference between MMA shorts and boxing shorts?
An MMA short is built for the ground as well as the feet. It runs longer, to just above the knee, with a side slit on each leg so a closed guard and a leg pass do not bind the hip, and a flat drawcord waistband that stays tied when an opponent pulls on it. Boxing shorts have none of that.
Do these fit true to size?
Yes. European cut — take your usual size. Eight sizes run XS to 4XL. The drawcord takes up a change in waist measurement. If you train in a groin guard, go one size up.
Does the print wear off in the wash?
No. The design is sublimated into the fibre rather than laid on top of it, so there is no layer to crack or peel on the mat. Wash inside out at 30 °C / 86 °F and skip the fabric softener.
Do these come in big and tall sizes?
Yes, up to 4XL. Most of the market stops at XXL on a fight short.
How do you wash MMA shorts?
Machine wash inside out at 30 °C / 86 °F, no tumble dryer, and no iron on the design. Avoid fabric softener: it coats the weave and slows how fast sweat moves through it.
