Twenty years, four months, twenty-two days
On 22 November 1986, at the Las Vegas Hilton, Mike Tyson fought Trevor Berbick for the WBC heavyweight title. It lasted two rounds. A left to the body, then a short right to the temple: Berbick got up three times and fell back each time, unable to hold his legs.
Tyson was 20 years and 4 months old, and became the youngest heavyweight world champion in history — a record that still stands. His trainer Cus D'Amato, who had taken him in at 13 and promised him that title, had died a year earlier without seeing it.
What you see
Landscape format, high contrast black and white with red highlights — Tyson's gloves, the top rope and part of the printed line are the only colour in the image. Tyson holds the left half, standing, leaning forward, dark trunks with piping, gloves lowered; his opponent lies on his back in the right foreground, arms out, one red glove still clenched.
Top right, the line is printed in white capitals across three lines and signed with his name, with punched in the mouth picked out in red. Behind them, the ropes, the lights and the front rows. From 3 m / 10 ft you read a knockout and a line of text; from 1 m / 3 ft the faces around the ring come through.

Worth knowing: black and white competes with no wall colour, which makes this the simplest piece to place in a room that is already furnished. From 60 × 90 cm / 24 × 35 in the ring scene reads from a sofa. Frames are sold separately: wooden frame up to 100 cm / 39 in per side, XXL wooden frame from 110 to 200 cm / 43 to 79 in, or aluminium frame in 8 finishes.
A landscape frame sits over low furniture
The horizontal crop asks for width rather than height: it goes above a console, a bench or a sofa rather than into a narrow pier. Allow 80 × 120 cm / 31 × 47 in over a three-seater and 60 × 90 cm / 24 × 35 in over a hall console. The size chart by wall type covers the other placements room by room.

Frequently asked questions
Who is the youngest heavyweight champion in history?
Mike Tyson, at 20 years and 4 months, after stopping Trevor Berbick in two rounds on 22 November 1986 in Las Vegas. The record has stood for close to forty years.
When did Mike Tyson say everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth?
The earliest documented versions date to 1987, around the build-up to the Tyrell Biggs fight, in the shorter form everybody has a plan until they get hit — quoted that autumn by Walter Payton and in Esquire in February 1988. The wording printed here, with punched in the mouth, is the one that spread later and is usually attached to the 1996 Evander Holyfield build-up. Both accounts circulate; the 1987 citations are the ones that can be dated.
What size canvas should I hang above a sofa?
The working rule is about two thirds of the width of the furniture below it, centred 145 cm / 57 in from the floor. Over a 200 cm / 79 in three-seater, that means 80 × 120 cm / 31 × 47 in; over a two-seater, 60 × 90 cm / 24 × 35 in; in a hallway, 30 × 45 cm / 12 × 18 in. The full size chart by wall type is on the Ali vs Liston 1965 page.
Is there text on this canvas?
Yes, top right: everyone has a plan till they get punched in the mouth, signed with his name, in white capitals across three lines, with punched in the mouth in red.
Does the canvas come with a frame?
No, the canvas ships on its own, rolled in a protective tube. Frames are sold separately: wooden frame up to 100 cm / 39 in per side, XXL wooden frame from 110 to 200 cm / 43 to 79 in, or aluminium frame in 8 finishes. The wooden kits are 2.5 cm / 1 in thick and come with instructions.
How do I clean a canvas print?
A dry microfibre cloth handles almost everything. For a mark that stays, use a barely damp cloth with no detergent, wiping across the surface. No abrasive sponge, no glass cleaner.
