The World Boxing Council was founded in Mexico City in 1963 on the initiative of eleven countries. Twenty years later, after the fatal bout between Duk Koo Kim and Ray Mancini, it cut its world championships from fifteen rounds to twelve: the other bodies followed, and twelve rounds is now the standard everywhere. The green and gold belt is still the one from the oldest of the four bodies. It is what fills this blanket.

Why are world title fights twelve rounds?
The WBC cut its titles from fifteen rounds to twelve in the early 1980s, after the Duk Koo Kim and Ray Mancini fight of November 1982. The other bodies adopted the same distance and it became the rule.
How do you care for a coloured print?
Cold, delicate cycle, no bleach and no softener. The green and the gold are dyed into the fibre: they keep their intensity wash after wash.
Is the design printed on both sides?
No, on one side only. The reverse is plain and smooth, so the blanket can be turned over when you want a neutral finish on the sofa.
