The Queensberry Rules, published in 1867, made boxing what it is: gloves compulsory, three-minute rounds, a minute between them, a count of ten for a man on the floor, and no wrestling. Twelve articles that ended centuries of bare-knuckle fighting with no limit on duration.
The mark on this cap shows two boxers on guard, in the stance those rules codified, beneath the word BOXING.
The mark, near and far
The motif is printed in white and grey: BOXING in capitals arced across the top, two boxers on guard facing each other at the centre, CLUB on a banner beneath, and on either side a glove and a skull in a hat. The line work is given a distressed treatment. At four metres you read BOXING; at one metre the boxers, the glove and the skull come through.
Cut and adjustment
Flat brim delivered unbent, structured 13 cm / 5.1 in crown, rear snapback closure. The measurement table shared by every flat brim cap sits on the Everlast snapback listing.

This is the one cap in the collection whose motif shows a fight rather than a brand mark or a champion’s name. White on black gives maximum contrast, which is what settled the choice of ground.
Worth a look
The Muay Thai cap shows two fighters over the lettering rather than beneath it. The boxing fist cap moves the same idea into relief, and the WBC World Champion cap pictures the belt instead. Everything sits in the boxing caps collection.
Frequently asked questions
What are the Queensberry Rules?
Twelve articles published in 1867 that founded modern boxing: gloves compulsory, three-minute rounds separated by a minute of rest, a count of ten for a boxer on the floor, and no wrestling. They replaced bare-knuckle contests with no limit on duration.
What size boxing cap should I get?
The snap closure covers 55–59 cm / 21.7–23.2 in. Measure with a tape about 1 cm / 0.4 in above the eyebrows, around the back of the skull over the bump, without pulling tight.
What cap do you buy for someone starting boxing?
A generic mark rather than a champion or a governing body: Boxing Club works whichever discipline they train and whoever their favourite fighter is. The one-size adjustable closure also removes the risk of getting a measurement wrong.
Who was the Marquess of Queensberry?
John Douglas, ninth Marquess of Queensberry, who lent his name and his backing to the rules drafted by the Welsh sportsman John Graham Chambers in 1865 and published in 1867. Chambers wrote them; Queensberry gave them their standing.
How do you wash a black cap with a white print?
By hand, lukewarm water at 30 °C / 86 °F maximum, mild soap with no bleaching agent, dabbing the motif rather than scrubbing it. Dry in the shade: direct sun fades the black faster than it fades the print.
Single colourway: add it straight to the basket.
