40 x 40 cm / 16 x 16 in has been the European standard for a sofa cushion since the 1970s, and it is the size almost every insert sold in Europe is built to. This cover takes it, along with three other formats from 30 to 60 cm / 12 to 24 in, under the Esprit Boxe brand mark and its FOR THE GLORY line. You receive the cover on its own, without an insert.
A cover rather than a cushion
An insert lasts years; a decorative scheme does not. Buying the cover alone reuses the inserts already in the house, saves paying and shipping for padding you own, and lets the room change without throwing anything away. It is also what makes a machine wash straightforward, with no soaked filling to wrestle back into shape.
Black or gold
- Black mark: a flat solid, sharp contrast on the cream ground, legible under any lighting. It works in a light room and on a grey or beige sofa.
- Gold mark: a gradient that catches the light and shifts in intensity with the angle. It suits black and gold schemes and darker rooms.
The ground stays cream on both, and the mark is the official Esprit Boxe logo followed by FOR THE GLORY on a second line. It covers about half the face width, centred at mid height: at three metres / ten feet you see a horizontal block, at one metre / three feet you read both lines.

Good to know before ordering
The insert is not supplied. That is the point to hold on to: you receive a cover. Standard inserts are sold everywhere, in 40 x 40 cm / 16 x 16 in as in 60 x 60 cm / 24 x 24 in, for a few pounds.
The cream ground is what makes the mark read. It is also why the cover comes off completely through the zip and goes in the machine at 30 °C / 86 °F: routine care, and the ground is back to its original shade.
One face is printed. The mark sits on the front, the reverse is plain cream, which leaves the option of flipping the cushion for a neutral look.
Care
Take the cover off and wash it on its own at 30 °C / 86 °F, inside out, then line dry: the fabric holds its size and the cover slips back onto its insert without a fight. Iron on low, inside out only.
