Sixty seconds in the corner
Between rounds a boxer has one minute. What his corner does with those sixty seconds is choreographed to the gesture, and it always splits the same way.
The first ten seconds are for sitting him down and taking out the mouthguard. Then comes the cutman: swelling compressed with a chilled metal plate, a coagulant on the cuts, drying. In parallel the trainer gives two instructions at most — beyond that, a boxer out of breath retains nothing. The last ten seconds are for water and putting the mouthguard back. The rules require the corner to be out of the ring before the bell.
What you see
Very elongated horizontal format, twice as wide as it is tall. The boxer holds the left half, sitting in the ring corner, framed from the thighs up, head down and shoulders dropped, bare chested and glistening, red gloves resting on his thighs. The blue and white ropes pass behind him and the hall beyond is in darkness.
The right half is black, filled by the word arise in very large spaced white capitals, followed by the line best speeches ever #15 in small type. From 3 m / 10 ft you read a figure and a word; from 1 m / 3 ft the sweat and the ropes come through.
