In Rocky, released in 1976, the world champion is looking for an unknown opponent for an exhibition bout set for 1 January, the year of the American bicentennial. He leafs through a directory of local fighters and stops on a nickname he finds saleable: the Italian Stallion. The fight is granted on that basis alone. Fifty years on, those two words are still one of the best known ring nicknames in cinema.
What the visual shows
Bright yellow across the whole surface. At the centre, a rearing stallion as a flat black shape, set inside an irregular circle with a worn outline, breath visible at the nostrils. The word ITALIAN follows the top of the circle, STALLION the bottom, in black capitals with a stamped look. Black on bright yellow keeps its contrast at a distance: at five metres / sixteen feet the design is still readable.

Good to know
The yellow is unbroken and saturates the whole surface: on a light sofa it becomes the focal point of the room. This is a blanket you see from the doorway, folded over a sofa back as much as spread out.

Frequently asked questions
What size blanket should I choose for a sofa?
150x125 cm / 59x49 in for a two-seat sofa, 200x150 cm / 79x59 in for a three-seat, 125x100 cm / 49x39 in for an armchair or a sofa back. The complete match-up is in the size guide.
Do bright colours survive the wash?
The yellow is dyed into the fibre rather than laid on the surface: it does not bleed and does not fade in a cold wash. Avoid bleach and detergents containing an optical brightener, which attack the pigments.
Where does the nickname Italian Stallion come from?
It is the ring name of the lead character in the film Rocky, released in 1976. In the script it is that nickname, and nothing else, that gets the unknown fighter picked to face the world champion.
Is the design printed on both sides?
No, on one side only. The reverse is plain and smooth, so the blanket can be turned over when you want a neutral finish on the sofa.
Can it be used as an everyday sofa blanket?
Yes. The 150x125 cm / 59x49 in covers a seated adult and folds away easily; it takes a cold machine wash as often as needed, including low-heat tumble drying.
The same world carries on with boxing wall art and the rest of the boxing decoration.
