In 1976 an unknown actor wrote a boxing screenplay in a few days and refused to sell it unless he was given the lead. The film was shot in 28 days for under a million dollars, took more than a hundred times its budget and won Best Picture in 1977. The training run that ends with arms raised at the top of a flight of steps became the most imitated shot in sports cinema. That is the image this blanket carries.
What the visual shows
White ground, a black and white photograph at the centre: Rocky Balboa in a hooded tracksuit, seen from behind, right arm raised, at the top of a flight of steps looking over a city at dawn. Black capitals run across the top of the image and a black rule underlines the edges. The ground is white rather than black: at three metres / ten feet you read a large black and white photograph, at one metre / three feet you can make out the grain of the shot and the figures below.
Choosing your size
Three sizes, given width by height: 125x100 cm / 49x39 in for an armchair or a sofa back, 150x125 cm / 59x49 in for a two-seat sofa, 200x150 cm / 79x59 in for a three-seat sofa or thrown across a double bed. The full match-up is set out in the collection's size guide.
Technical specifications
Good to know
The ground is white across the whole surface, which gives the photograph its maximum contrast. A cold wash and low-heat drying can be repeated as often as needed without altering the white or the grain of the image.

Frequently asked questions
What size blanket should I choose for a sofa?
150x125 cm / 59x49 in for a two-seat sofa, 200x150 cm / 79x59 in for a three-seat, 125x100 cm / 49x39 in for an armchair or a sofa back. The complete match-up is in the size guide.
How do you wash a white blanket without greying it?
Cold, on its own or with white laundry, on a delicate cycle and without fabric softener. Hot water sets body oils: at 30 °C / 86 °F maximum, marks lift more easily. Low-heat tumble drying brings the loft back to the fibres.
How long did the first Rocky take to shoot?
Twenty-eight days, on a budget under a million dollars. The film came out in December 1976 and won Best Picture the following year, against Taxi Driver and Network.
Is the design printed on both sides?
No, on one side only. The reverse is plain and smooth, so the blanket can be turned over when you want a neutral finish on the sofa.
Does this blanket work as a gift?
Yes, it arrives folded and wrapped and standard shipping is free. For a gift the 150x125 cm / 59x49 in is the most versatile: it covers a seated adult to the shoulders without overhanging a small sofa.
The same world carries on with boxing wall art and the rest of the boxing decoration.
