On 27 November 2005, on what would have been his 65th birthday, his brother Robert Lee unveiled a 2.5 m / 8.2 ft bronze on the Avenue of Stars in Tsim Sha Tsui, sculpted by Cao Chong-en and funded by the Bruce Lee Club.
That statue takes the ready-to-strike pose from Fist of Fury. This piece keeps the other move, the one that built his screen reputation: the high kick, held in balance.
What you get
Bruce Lee bare-chested, support leg straight and kicking leg vertical above the head, one arm folded at the face, the other reaching back for balance. The figure stands on a moulded rock set on a rectangular plate.
What the photograph will not tell you: the three finishes read at different distances. Classic bronze is warm and mid-toned; blackened bronze is dark and needs side light for the muscle relief to show; silver is the brightest and draws the outline even against a busy background. From 3 m / 10 ft you see a diagonal; from 1 m / 3 ft the fall of the trousers and the texture of the rock come out.
